Great to hear you will be working on this table, Knorr!
When you get far enough in the project, let me know when you get to the warrior bug. High Roller Casino and Starship Troopers use the same motor mech, so I can help you script the movement for it. The VP9 tables hacked around the lack of proper support from Vpinmame for this mech.

March 26, 2020 at 7:04 pm #169128So i have to bump this… Does anyone know the dimensions of the playfield? I thought its a standard cab but somehow, when i use the playfield pics over from vpf, the planets look egg shaped. If i dont scale it the pf image is to short….

March 26, 2020 at 11:17 pm #169139I bet if you ask the guy selling it on Craigslist he would measure it

March 29, 2020 at 1:11 pm #169376The image of the playfield is not flat and on the right side there is an extra part that should be cut.
For me it is standard Data East-Sega size.Interesting table.

April 2, 2020 at 3:51 pm #170120So i’ve been messing around and stitched some playfield pictures. Definitely not the best pictures, but the PF is better then the one used right now.
I used DevaL’s VPX release and start changing textures, domes, plastics, etc.I want to add more materials, mechanical sounds… and now I’m stuck!
I have no idea how to script or even add things for that matter
(Tried to add ball dropping and ball rolling sounds., etc.)Table is not going to be jaw dropping, but maybe for time being someone like to assist and make it the best we can?
Please let me know and PM me.You need to login in order to like this post: click here

April 3, 2020 at 5:47 am #170180@embee If you have good, but only low rez graphics, I can upscale them via imglarger AI, if you want. I have a one month account at the moment.

April 3, 2020 at 5:56 am #170182Sounds good! Is it better to upscale before further enhancements?
i that case i’ll stop working on it and send you the PF picture. You need to login in order to like this post: click here
April 3, 2020 at 11:33 am #170222The pf pic worked quite good. I had to cut it into 2 pieces not bigger than 2000 x 2000 and stitched it together afterwards. The seam is almost invisible, I bet you won’t find it. :)
For the plastics see PM.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wxnh1q68zpkc8o1/Starship%20Troopers.zip?dl=0
the only problem
go to layer 9 , I added a subway, you will need to make a prim PF with the hole cutouts in order for it to work
see DJRobX post the Bug code needs to be rebuilt.
see a table you like help me find the resources so that I can finish it

April 3, 2020 at 1:53 pm #170266Love this pinball, and if Knorr is involved this would be top-notch recreation.
And I own real thing. My unit is not in perfect shape, but fully playable and complet.
Not going to strip it for playfield scans, but if you need pictures of some specific toys or playfield area let me know.

@32Assassin: Is your table base in the right size?
I used DevaL Crude VPX conversion as a base and his PF texture is stretched horizontally, so if your table base is good i could copy it to your table.
As far as your script: Sounds great… but i have no clue how to implement or write script (beside copy-paste things). Adding stuff on the playfield and finding my way in the software is where im at. Pretty much a noob here… I only did texture things untill now.Just to be clear.
It’s not my intention to steal @Knorr‘s threat here. I love his tables and i’m sure his version will kick ass!|
@Vogliadicane did my PF picture upgrade and @Sixtoe will take a crack a it to see if he can make it better.
Who knows… maybe those textures will be good and @Knorr can use them for his version.Carry on!

April 4, 2020 at 3:33 am #170422@kiella sure, no problem. He has upscaled plasics now, too.

April 4, 2020 at 4:21 am #170424@Vogliadicane did the plastics upgrade via Imglarger.
I cut them out and added @32Assassin‘s clear plastic filter on top of it.
At first glance they look good. Hopefully usable for this table.“I’m doing my part…” ;)
Carry on!

April 4, 2020 at 7:36 am #170438@vinthar you own the machine? Could you assist me with some measurements? I still don’t know the playfield dimensions

April 4, 2020 at 3:20 pm #170543I’ve been playing with the playfield for most of the day, I’ve taken a few liberties but I think it’s turned out OK so far, there’s more I can do but I wanted to upload something “as is”.

April 14, 2020 at 3:53 pm #172959So this is where I am at for now.
I took Sixtoe’s updated PF, added some stuff from other PF and tried to (re)build this table.
I used assets from 32Assassin’s SST table base. The new PF was another size then DeVal’s SST table so i had to replace/rebuild.
Added new plastics (textures upgraded by Vogliadicane), Knorr’s apron, few assets from other authors.Sorry 32A, I would like to implement your code rebuild, but I have no idea how scripting works…
I’m struggling with the table building right now, but learning more and more along the way…The table has a few issues witch I don’t know how to fix:
– Multiball doesn’t auto launch and balls keep pilling up in shooter lane (is that a script thing?)
– Some assets are rendered on top or below another asset, despite the “write in front or back” option in the VP editor
– Would like to add some basic table lighting
– Better/more table sounds
– Cleanups and fixesIf someone can help me with this, that would be appreciated
