Also, after a year of not being able to add credits to this table, even after updating the nvram package and no luck trying to do factory reset…  thank you to Akuma2000 – renamed smb.nv to smb3.nv (and trashed the original smb3.nv) now the credit button works!!!

I have recently gotten the VPX bug.  I’ve had fun setting up different tables. Love Zelda.  Cannot for the life of me find the SMB3 rom anywhere. I’ve searched everywhere and cannot believe how difficult this has been to find. Has Nintendo gone after everyone hosting this rom or something?

This game uses a Gottlieb System 3 CPU so you need to initialize it if you never did it (factory reset).
In this game you need to
1)open the menu by pressing 7
2)when the menu shows up, you press the left flipper key
3)Next press 1 to do a factory reset and 1 again to confirm
4)Game will be initialiazed, press F3 now to reset the rom and enjoy

Anyone know how to get altcolor working correctly for this table? I have two pin2dmd files from different sources that I have tried, I have colorize enabled in the rom settings. Apparently this colorization needs Freezy 1.7.1 because it won’t work with 1.8 so I have that correct but it still doesn’t work. I can see the DMD is colorized but the colors are not right, it doesn’t look anything like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU_1ifjs5Nw

Freezys 1.7.2  had a known problem with PIN2DMD   files.

those issues have been fixed with 1.8,    the post you read most likely said only use 1.7.1  when their was no 1.8 version.

why don’t you post screen shots of what you have done and links to the files you used.

its very difficult to give you any advice when you have very little info.

and this is a screen capture running on the latest version of Freezys 1.8.x
