This golf themed table carries the spirit of “Caddyshack.” Gunther the gopher will pester and annoy you throughout the game.
Rack up points during modes or multiball specials. Like a true golfer, you’ll be able to gamble your entire score on a double or nothing challenge by completing the “SKINS” game.
Playfield and Plastic redraws by rothbauerw.
Primitives by Dark (Volcano, Red Ramp, Tee Box, Golf Balls, Wire Ramps, Apron, Gopher Wheel)
Beta testers: Ben Logan, cyberprez, wrd1972, dark
Physics: LFHM by wrd1972
Special thanks to Kiwi, Ninuzzu, NFozzy and JPSalas. Palm trees and other elements borrowed from Surf ‘N Safari. Scripting template and other ideas borrowed fromr Super Mario Bros. Trough and Flipper code based on NFozzy’s. JP’s VP9 table was used as a reference at the beginning of this build.
The latest VPinmame should be used as there’s a fix for vblank timing that allows the ROM animations to run at the correct speed.
Getting the ROM up and running can be tricky. Follow these instructions to load factory settings:
- Press the “7” key
- Press “End” to open the coin door
- Use the “7” key to bring up the menu
- Use the flippers to go to “Game Adjustments”
- Press the start button (“1” on my machine) to load factory settings
- Press start one more time
- Press the “Home” key to SLAM TILT and reload the game

January 8, 2017 at 8:26 pm #45389Just tried this one out… turned out really great, rothbauer. You did an awesome job on the wheel. The spin and ball motion/stop looks great. I also think this is the first table I have seen where I thought the ball shadow looked natural. Is that your own code for the shadow?
I appreciate the instructions for getting it started also… I don’t think I was ever able to get the rom working on the VP9 version and just gave up on it.
Anyway, great job on this one.

January 8, 2017 at 8:41 pm #45390The ball shadows are from Ninuzzu’s Super Mario Bros table with a modification to keep the shadow directly under the ball. Thanks Ninuzzu!

January 8, 2017 at 9:19 pm #45391Great work rothbauerw. Looks and plays great.
Odd question. I noticed that “teedoff” ROM can play without modification while “teedoff3” requires the modification. I remember ninuzzu’s Super Mario Bros table doing the same. Any reason why?

Yeah, the shadow under the ball like you have it seems to be the key. Otherwise, it looks like the ball is floating to me. I like how you modified it.

Which modification? You mean the setup process?

Not sure. Maybe the full install of VP came with an nvram file for the other rom?

January 9, 2017 at 6:00 pm #45423Great table, thanks!
Is this the first table I have seen with audio volume controls for the mechanicals in the script like that?

I haven’t seen it anywhere else. I frequently see posts asking how to adjust volume and I sometimes like to tweak it too, so I thought I’d make it easier for folks.

Awesome idea! and as a somewhat “outspoken” proponent of PMD over DOF for tactile feedback, I thank you. ;)
