Still WIP though progress has been slow.
Sounds good… I was hoping you hadn’t scrapped the project.  Â

October 11, 2018 at 10:16 am #100779[redacted] …. hmm.
Nothing on anyone’s wish list (except mine). I figured out how to light a backglass in Blender and import it to B2S editor, so there’s that.

October 11, 2018 at 5:00 pm #100815Oh very nice with the b2s editor! How did you import that?
lets hope someday soon we can just do the b2s in vp! Dual screen support needed :)

October 11, 2018 at 10:47 pm #100829Using an alpha mask I can use actual bulb positions and do separate renders for the opaque and translucent areas. Then I just slice them up into snippets in Photoshop as usual, the benefit being that the lighting and color rendition looks better (IMO) than faking it in PS. Maybe adds 30 minutes to the process. Unfortunately my source image wasn’t great but I wanted to test the ideas and am happy enough with the results that I would do it again.
But yeah, maybe God will be merciful and bring us 3D lighting, decent kicker physics and native dual screen support before I need to do this again.

November 2, 2018 at 4:15 pm #102491@bord Working on it this weekend while visiting family in Iowa as a matter of fact. Redraws without much reference material is harder than it looks.Â

November 2, 2018 at 4:58 pm #102494No doubt. Don’t hesitate to steal stuff directly from the playfield. Lots of echoed material between PF and plastics. Have a fun trip!

November 2, 2018 at 6:36 pm #102511The middle plastic comparison. Let me know how close the color matching should be (currently referencing the playfield colors and not the plastics screenshots) and how much visual noise there should be. I’m trying to make it so that the playfield and plastics don’t look too different from one another. I’m sure a lot of it is experience and trial and error.

November 2, 2018 at 9:25 pm #102530Color match looks right on to me. Much better to match the PF than a photo.
Shouldn’t really be any visual noise. The line art all seems to be solid colors to my eyes. Things will look less flat and uniform once everything gets a material in Blender.
Lookin’ great, man. Thanks for sharing the progress!

January 3, 2019 at 10:41 pm #108573New year, new motivation to finish a long overdue promise. I’ve brushed the holiday dust off of Photoshop and I’m determined to get this to you all and especially @bord by months end. I spent an hour tonight reworking the right slingshot plastics. Expect daily progress shots from here on out. It’s the only way I’ll be able to keep myself accountable.
Happy New Year!

January 7, 2019 at 9:55 pm #108873I was a bit under the weather over the weekend and decided that binging Parks and Recreation was a better use of my time. Feeling refreshed I started to tackle the upper plastics this evening. The tree detail is still a WIP but things are progressing nicely.
