If any one is interested, Tom Taylor will once again open up his collection of pinball machines as a pre-event for the 2019 Midwest Gaming Classic (MGC) in Milwaukee. Bord and I went last year and it is an absolutely incredible event! I think this event is even better than the MGC because there are so many machines and so few people that there is never a wait to play because at least a dozen excellent tables that are open to walk right up to.
Tom owns every Gottlieb Wedge head ever made and has an incredible collection of other EM and SS games that take up four full strip mall shops. The tickets for this event sell out quickly so if you are planning on attending the 2019 MGC you’ll want to pick them up now. The cost is a $20 donation to the Milwaukee rescue center and can be done on the MGC web site.
I’ll be wearing my VPinball long sleeve shirt so if you see someone hunched over a pinball machine who is playing badly, it’s probably me. Stop by and say hi.

January 29, 2019 at 1:48 pm #111800It is a great event. I’m still trying to figure out my travel plans for that weekend, @scottacus. Would love to do it again.
If I can’t get tickets to the Tom Taylor event I’ll serve cocktails in the parking lot to any VPinballers following the event.

January 29, 2019 at 2:29 pm #111805I don’t know what you thought @Bord but I felt that the Tom Taylor event was better than the MCG. I’m trying to remember all of the non-wedgehead tables that he has but here are a few that I recall off the top of my head:
Four Million BC, Gridiron, Paul Bunyan, Humpty Dumpty, Gulfstream, Space Mission, Fish Tales, Taxi, Cyclone, Space Shuttle, STNG, TZ, TOTAN, AF… I remember that there were quite a few more SS games towards the front entrance but those were being played pretty much all of the time. In total he has well over 220 pins and lots of other gaming machines.
Here’s a really old video of the event to give you an idea of just how spectacular the collection is.

January 29, 2019 at 4:06 pm #111822Totally agree. Tom Taylor’s place is a rarity and a real treat for anyone who loves pinball and pinball history.
I only bought tickets to MGC last year so I could attend Tom Taylor’s. That’s my hang up this year. I’m not sure I can shell out for the weekend MGC pass just to get the TT tickets. Might have to play pinball in Milwaukee bars this year instead…

January 29, 2019 at 5:18 pm #111889I was able to buy a TT ticket and I haven’t bought a MGC ticket.
I might take Darling to the MGC if I don’t sell it first otherwise the MGC was pretty crowded last year at the new venue. The early Saturday time period was fine for about an hour or two, I thought the crowds might slack off at noon but no such luck. At the old venue, late on Saturday was the best time, only the die hards stuck around that late and the casual crowd disappeared. With snow moving in last year I didn’t stick around long enough to find out.

Any VP tables that you want to make that Tom has? I know you were interested in Space Mission last year. This could be a great opportunity to get photos of playfields, backglasses and plastics.
