Twilight Zone Skitso Mod 2.05
The latest release from Team rothborski.
—
This has been in works for months and I’m finally happy to introduce it to the community. Since my last version, a lot has happened to this table:
I’ve made a complete visual overhaul with all the new stuff I’ve learned since v. 1.5 about a year ago. There’s new inserts, new textures, new lights, new shadows, new flashers, a lot of added detail etc. all with a Skitso level of polish and attention to detail you all are accustomed of.
Then there’s a completely overhauled, best in class gameplay and physics, by no other than rothbauerw, the king of physics. He also rewrote a lot of the scripting, fixed issues with GI and clock lights, added sounds and offered a lot of support and help in all the ways possible.
Bord also stepped in, providing the table a new mesh playfield, a new ramp model, a new lampshade model and a new scoop model, all top notch quality as usual.
I want to give a huge special thanks to these two gentleman. It’s a privilege to be able to work with such talent. Thank you guys!
CUSTOMIZATION:
The table is FSS and VR ready (active backglass and DMD). To use in VR, set the VRon option in the script to True. There is also an option for those with dual leaf switches for their flipper buttons.
The goal was to recreate this classic pinball as faithfully as possible. There are some visual mods available to enable in the top part of the script, but they are not part of my artistic vision on this table, so I suggest leaving them off. Also changing POV will mess few lighting effects, so that should not be done unless absolute necessity.

This table mod is based on Ninuzzu’s table. (Thanks for letting me mod it!)

September 25, 2018 at 2:34 am #99335Once again you picked a table where the git repo has a slight improved version of the script. In this case it will give better ssf and modulated flashers. Maybe you have included it already ?
Looking forward to come home and try this one out. TZ is a great table and you did a very nice job on the TOTAN mod.

I’m a gfx/visual guy mostly so I know almost nothing about scripts. If you have stuff I need to add, please sent it over and I’ll include it into the mod. Thanks. :)

September 25, 2018 at 5:04 am #99349If you haven’t added anything to the table script yourself. Then this version should work as a replacement. (not at home, so not able to verify this myself at the moment)

September 25, 2018 at 12:16 pm #99392Adds some fantastic realism and dimension to a great table. Thank you! I will look into your TOTAN mod, as well. Still haven’t settled on which version I like best on that one.

September 26, 2018 at 1:50 am #99486Hmm, the middle white flasher doesn’t look too hot with the newest script update. Any idea how to fix it, @Thalamus?
Btw, those who own the real table, is the rocket launch SFX (the one that sounds like a bowling ball strike) that loud?

September 26, 2018 at 3:54 am #99491I have to take a closer look. It was DjRobX that updated the table script, enabling modulated flashers. What can happen is that you have tweaked it to look a curtain way, but, because it is getting the values from the rom it has changed. That is at least what I’ve understand from the code. If you want to fix it. It would be to revert the flasher in question to its original code.

September 26, 2018 at 2:07 pm #99516wow, this is actually a “Detail” Mod.
Some things like all the shadow work or the clock are obvious, but to better see the differences in detail, I did some side by side comparison in PS. Lots of stuff, you don’t realize at first glance, so super interesting. What made me really wow is, you even tweaked the look of the small TV (look at the antenna base)
That’s what I call love for details!
