I have read several posts and found some similar issues with video stutter when launching the table directly from VPX.
My problem is a little different:
Table plays fine (no backglass video stutter) when launched from VPX directly.
Table plays fine with backglass video stutter when launched from PinUP Menu.
Example:
VPX Table: Harry Potter – Goblet of Fire
The intro video (with the snake coming out of the wall) after selecting the table from PinUP Menu stutters badly.
The table continues to play fine but the video playback quality continues to degrade.
I don’t believe this to be a hardware driver issue as the same video plays back fine when launched directly from VPX.
Additional Info:
Hardware:
PC: Dell Alienware Aurora R-11 (i7-10700KF CPU w/16GB RAM w/ NVidia RTX 2080 Super)
Playfield: 43″ Samsung UHD
Backglass: 32″ Samsung HD
DMD: PINDMDv3
Windows 10 Version:
2004 (build 19041.508)
PinUP Player and Popper Version:
1.4.5 (‘stock’/’clean’ install no deviation from Nailbuster’s instructions) found here:
https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=install_guide
Necessary virus scanner exclusions are in place and nothing is being run as administrator.
What is even more puzzling is that I do not have this issue with my other workstation that has a similar configuration but the PinUP Player/Popper was upgraded to 1.4.5.
I have spent the last 4 months getting my configuration stable then ordered the ‘dedicated’ PCs for the cabinets and thought I was done building the ‘gold disk’ (aka: master image that will be used to build the cabinet for my brother) but then I started testing each table and started with the Harry Potter VPX table (one of my favorites…thank you Scotty Wic and all of the other great talent that went into that).
Anyway, I’ll dive into it a little more and let you know if I figure it out. This is probably user error (like 85% of the problems). I’m just not sure where the error is…lol

September 26, 2020 at 10:51 am #202294Just fixed this perplexing problem with the Pup pack videos stuttering…
Thank you Nailbuster for the following (this helped me resolve the problem):
https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=puppack_troubleshoot
The solution for the PC with the Nvidia RTX 2080 Super installed:
Set the “FPS Limiter/VSync” and “Maximum pre-rendered Frames” to “1” and check the “Force exclusive Fullscreen Mode” checkbox in the VPX->Preferences->Video/Graphics Options:
Note: I did not have to do this on my other machine that has a Nvidia GTX 1080Ti installed.
Hope this helps someone :)
Cheers,
Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
