VPtools Launcher – testers and feedback appreciated

Hi,

About two years ago, I created VPtools to check and change certain pinMame ROM settings related to DMD displays.
Then I built my own pincab and thought it would be cool to create my own launcher instead of using something complicated like PinballX or PinUp popper. I extended VPtools to include this launcher functionality.
I’ve been using it for some time and it seems to work OK on my system, but of course there can be many different setups so it would be nice to hear how it works on other systems.

The Launcher has some nice features (and probably still some bugs) :
.it uses wheel images to show a list of your tables but you can use your own images or sets
.you can create table collections and select those
.take screenshots of a running game via an keyboard shortcut (ALt-s) and see these screenshots in the launcher as you scroll through your table collection
.save scores (by entering manually after game end)
.collect statistics
.configure cabinet buttons to work with the tool – for table selection, starting and stopping

To install,

• unpack the zip in some directory
• start the VPtools executable in that directory (not signed, so windows may complain, do a ‘run anyway’)
• the tool will prompt you for the dir name of your tables collection – enter the full path
• do ‘Apply & save’  and ‘Search games’

that’s it !  A list of game icons should appear – doubleclick an icon/wheel image or use a cabinet button (if configured) to launch a game

Thanks for sharing, great idea! But after installing and launching it says: searchgames: insufficient memory

Edit: Never mind, reduced the amount of wheel images, now it works great, thanks!

Jalei, never had this problem – how much tables do you have
I have 130 but most people probably have much more..

I added my wheel folder (1300+ images) but brought it back to the amount of tables (330). No further problems, thanks!
