This is a basic VR Room of the fantastic Thalamus mod of ICPJuggla’s re-creation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The VR Room was created using senseless’ awesome VR Room Environment Template. Some quick notes:
- This is supposed to be a dark table, but you can use the right magnasave button to try different LUT settings
- The table is B2S ready and looks amazing this way. You will need to use djrobx’s latest version of VPVR that enables B2S support, and will need to uncheck “Disable B2S” and check “Capture PUP Player” in the Keys, Nudge and DOF settings. You will also need a .directb2s in your tables folder that is named the same as the .vpx
- I’ve disabled a few of the VR features (like playfield glass, scratches, DMD reflection) as I prefer it this way, but you can reenable these in the script if you’d like.
I’ve included the original description from Thalamus’ awesome table below. Enjoy!
First and foremost. This is just a mod of ICPJuggla’ re-creation of BSD. I absolutely love that game, but, since it was created, VP has evolved and that is why I release this mod.
I orignally started modifying this table privately a long time ago. My main goal was to change its physics to play closer to a machine in Oslo, it was a bit worn, and I wanted to try to get that feeling. In the end though. It has become more or less a blueprint copy of another release. It just plays so much better than what I’ve been able to create.
This table originally came from FP, by Francisco666 and Rom. It was converted to VP by ICPJuggla and he had some helpers in great names like Tom Tower, Zany, Ninuzzu, Bodydump and Ezepov.
I haven’t worked with any of these, but, instead stolen shamelessly from the following guys especially.
DjRobX Modulated flashers, and of course thank you for all the magic you do elsewhere.
Rothbauwerw Hell, most of the stuff that makes me want to release it.
nFozzy Hope you are doing well, we miss you and your expertise.
Dark Haven’t stolen prims for this table itself, but, tips in forums and PMs for sure.
Fleep Great collection of sound samples, stolen a few.
Flupper Totally ripped you code for LUT, and other stuff in forums.
Kiwi Rolling code and great information in forums.
Schreibi34 Your prerendered insert images came in handy.
JPSalas Don’t think I used your expertise on this release, but, I’ve learned a lot from you.
Bord Haven’t done any 3D in this, but, without you sharing your knowledge, I would not have understood a few of the tasks needed.
ICPJuggla For making this great table in the first place.
Randr What can I say. Without you, there would be no vpinball.com site, my #1 VP site.
I hope I didn’t leave anyone out, but, I fear I might. There are so many great guys in our community, it is hard to keep track of you all, especially since I’m that kind of guy that fixes one thing, then leave it for a long time and then change something else.
BSD is a game where stacking of the multi-balls is very important in order to get to those really high scores. Many of you have probably seen this video before, but, I want to share this video for anyone that missed probably the most exciting IFPA World Championship finals ever.
I urge you guys to try to hold back on activating those multiballs until they are ready. And remember, if all goes to … you will on the last ball most probably have Mist mb lit. Also, during rats and bats, play fast paced as switches completes those modes and yeah, bumpers are great for that.
I’ve included a altcolor that I prefer to use, and also a nvram with reset HSD.
This release will play differently from the original, so a reset seems to me to be the best way to go about it. I personally recommend that you go into the rom and set video mode to a harder level.
I hightly recommend Wildman’ db2s for this

I personally hate Facebook, but it is worthwhile for the VP content, which is all I use it for.

May 28, 2020 at 4:50 pm #183202Off topic, but… @forbeatn the .db2s file controls the backglass. You can download backglass files here, over at vpforums, and at vpuniverse. It’s news to me that backglasses are now working in VPVR (?) If so, that’s great news.
@TinyBlackDog, thanks so much for this VPVR Room. Can’t wait to try it tonight. Excellent job of documenting all contributors. We totally appreciate all you guys’ work!

May 28, 2020 at 6:01 pm #183210The directb2s support is fairly new, and was introduced within the past week by Rob. Â In fact, he just posted a new version of his modified VPVR today, which includes performance improvements and an implementation of MSAA by Rawnei, one of the original VPVR developers.
The original dev of VPVR, Caligula, has been extremely busy and hasn’t been able to keep the official build up to date.  That is why Rob has been releasing these ad hoc with Google Drive links in the Facebook group.
Here is the link to the version released today.  I’ll ping him to make sure he is okay with me posting this here, so grab it quickly or it might disappear.

I wish I could play that table..but the performance of this one is very bad for me. How can I remove/delete vr room objects?
Edit: and thank you @benlogan2 for explanation

this Version stutters so hard for me…before 90fps on almost all tables..with this around 66fps and stutter.

May 31, 2020 at 3:58 pm #183820Hi TinyBlackDog,
i love the room, by the way i’m having difficulties to have fun with this table, the ball continuously goes to the sides, expecially the right one, it looks that some pins are not placed where they should (comparing with the background image and also with the Bigus mod version where i’m actually having more fun), as you carefully taken behaviours from a real table, are you sure that the sides are correct? Bigus mod pins are higher than the background, yours are lower and looks decentered compared with surrounding stuff (on the right side is clearly visible)
NOTE: for some unknown reasons the table was crashing on launch, i had to manuallly delete room stuff (the ones that you can hide basically, no problems for me as i was going to hide everything anyway), never happaned this on any other table tbh, and i have all vr released tables and other 70+ tables that i’m fixing by myself
thanks

Have you tried the Thalamus table that this room is based on? Â It was posted here on vpinball recently (within the past week or two). Â My room has hardly any modifications to the table itself – just a couple of GI shadows were fixed. Â I would suggest downloading that table and see if you are having the same issues. Â If so, it is just how this table was created – with a focus on accuracy.
In my opinion, this version is much more realistic than the Bigus one. Â Dracula is brutal and unforgiving, which is why it is considered such a great tournament machine.

If you open the “script” window, look for the section near the top that has a number of options that are set to 0 or 1. Â You can try going through all those options and set them to 0 and see if that improves things for you. Â You could also try the original Thalamus table that this is based on (posted here on vpinball within past week or two) and try running that in VR to compare. Â My work was mainly taking that table and putting the room around it (based on senseless’ template).
Good luck!
