Hey everyone. I’ve got a really weird issue when starting PinballX and shuffling through tables after updating to the latest version. Mind you, I had NO issues whatsoever before the update. When PBX starts, the table that was chosen from before, shows for about half a second in a higher resolution, the screen goes black for about 3 – 5 seconds (almost as if it is automatically trying to adjust for a new resolution), then when the table finally shows, it’s at a lower resolution altogether. Unfortunately, it also does it when shuffling to the next table.. Screen goes black, waits 3-5 seconds, adjusts, and then shows the table. It’s very obnoxious and irritating. Here’s the kicker, when I have it hooked to my PC desktop monitor, instead of my 46″ cabinet screen, it works flawlessly. Also I’ve noticed on some of the tables in attract mode that the info ticker at the bottom is cut off. Any clue what it might be? Like I said, it did not do this before the update. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. I’m stumped.
Thanks in advance…
P.S. I made GIFs for my loading screen before this update and they worked perfectly. I notice now that they do not work at all after updating. Anyone else have this issue as well?

February 11, 2019 at 12:37 am #113831Sorry. I’ve never studied the log files on my setup as they work. I haven’t run any of the very latest releases as PBX here works exactly how I want it to. Maybe you should try to jump back some versions. You can pick what version you want to that download/changelog button. Have to rush to work very soon, been delayed quite a bit by snow this morning so hit me up if you want to know what version I’m running.

February 11, 2019 at 12:49 am #113834@outhere. No. will install tomorrow and see what happens. Thank you.
…And thanks for the downgrade suggestion Thalamus. Will try that if all else fails.

February 12, 2019 at 1:52 pm #113981UPDATE: @outhere.. Tried the updated LAV filters, no luck. @Thalamus.. Went ahead and downgraded to PBX 2.65, which has everything working as before. Even got my GIFs working again. So thank you. Funny side note though. When I downloaded 2.67 and installed, I still got the black screen issue. BUT when I downloaded the 2.65 version, the issue was gone. I took the liberty of copying what Tom Spiers said about the 2.67 version… “In addition in this release all video rendering (as in video files) is now hardware accelerated. On modern systems this means 60fps and 4k videos should not be on an issue. On low end systems video playback should not slow anything down and you should get full fps in PinballX.” Needless to say, there is a problem with my table videos being hardware accelerated. Like I said before though, it worked fine when I hooked up my PC monitor, but didn’t work for my 46″ cabinet screen. :( Oh well, I’m obviously only able to use 2.65, so it looks like no more updated versions for me for now. Thanks everyone.

February 12, 2019 at 2:34 pm #113984Hmm. That was a long jump back. When I saw your message I had to check. Seems I’m running 3.18. My table videos are in 1080p though.

April 21, 2020 at 5:27 pm #174558Hi!
Same problem here! I installed everything on a pc with a nvidia gtx970 and everything is running fine…
Copied those files on a PC with a Radeon Vega 56 and have the same problem descripted above, PinballX goes to a black screen when loading table video with table audio running fine. If I unload table videos I can shuffle everything smooth.
Yesterday I got an error that “application access to graphics hardware blocked”…
Both machines have the same and actual versions of Pinball X (and of course Visual Pinball)
Any help?
Thanks for all!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 22, 2020 at 4:32 am #174601I’ve since then “upgraded” to PinballY. I recommend that you give that a try first and foremost. Last time I tried PBX, it crashed on me too and I only use the file structure, xml-files and very seldomly the front-end app (don’t remember what it is named )for importing a wheel image or something like that. This is only because I have a very odd naming the tables and systems that tries to be smart, will break it.
Giving it a try – won’t hurt you as it is able to see that PinballX is installed and will ask you if you want to let PinballY use the same files.
http://mjrnet.org/pinscape/PinballY.php
If you don’t like it – just uninstall it.

Have you installed the latest LAV filters from pinballx homepage? https://www.pinballx.com/
Need to see your log file really to see errors, but you might be better posting over at gameex so Tom can respond if there is a problem specific to your setup.
