This is an FYI in case someone else is working on, or planning to work on, an update to JP’s Flash. The physics and game play on this are spot on, compared to the actual game.
A couldn’t find good PF images or scans, so I’m redrawing and correcting JP’s PF using my real Flash as a guide (my PF isn’t in great shape). Hope to add Vogliadicane’s vintage lighting, used on Fathom.
Plus other enhancements.
Pete
Some of the early work compared to original.

June 4, 2019 at 8:47 pm #130836I guess I could. Sure would be nice to play Flash without looking at my sad little PF.

June 4, 2019 at 9:32 pm #130838I like the idea of scanning it for the accuracy. Would be great to even just have the beat playfield as a guide for correct element placement.
DO IT!

June 5, 2019 at 5:47 am #130889Purists! :D. I guess y’all will want me to get djrobx to recreate the wonky effect of cupped inserts, too!
hmmm, stripping the Playfield. Again. This would be a good time while I troubleshoot my non-booting MPU.

hmm, may have to play around with cupped inserts, I know they say to just use a flat mesh for the playfield but it does work with non flat elements. might throw in a raised edge on one as well bu that would be too easy. the vulcan i used to own had all the bonus inserts in front of the flippers severely cupped, ball did some weird stuff. still regret not stripping down and scanning it before I sold it.

June 5, 2019 at 8:53 am #130896Yeah, check out the PF mesh on Hot Hand. All the holes around the spinning flipper are just part of the PF mesh. Cupped inserts are definitely possible with a PF mesh. Would be really cool.

June 5, 2019 at 9:46 am #130899ah, yeah forgot about that one. I was just thinking of just poking holes in the playfield mesh then I could put flat and cupped primitives under each hole and every time you start the table it randomly makes some of them cupped by switching collideable on and off, or even multiple cupped for varying level of cuppedness.

August 16, 2019 at 6:03 am #141891I got excited because I found a guy selling a pretty good PF and I figured I’d replace my worn one, so I bought it. But apparently during the process of stripping all the rusty parts, the plywood cracked, so he refunded my money. I’ve asked him about scanning or taking a grid of photos that I can stitch together. So I’m waiting…
