Looking at this, it seems he is repacking everything for a given table into an “all-in-one” file. This includes, Table, Rom, Backglass, media. This is of course a no-no based on the (sometimes written. sometimes implied) code of conduct in the vpin scene.
On top of this he’s offering tech support and custom media created by MajorFrenchy.

On the one hand, you would expect he should know better – that this would cause some ill feelings towards mameinabox from the vpin community… on the other he has always seemed like a reasonable dude whenever I have spoken to him in the past (in relation to other emulation hobbies etc, not just the vpin).
Only thing he really has rights to re-sell is his own created artwork (and then you might argue that as he’s using community assets/work for everything else, it might be nice if he also made that freely available). I get that this guy is trying to build a community / full time career from the site… not an easy to achieve ambition but regardless, this really isn’t the way to go about it in this space.
Again, my own perception of frenchy from past experience of the user and the channel is that he’s quite reasonable and does support the community. I would expect that if someone explains why this is a problem, he would likely comply and re-think his strategy here. There is some nuance between this kind of thing and an established cabinet seller who is bundling most of the available content in order to increase value for no investment, although the distinction between the two might not matter to many readers here (which is fair enough, these are moralistic arguments after all)…
Hoping we can try a reasoning approach in these cases as the first attempt, to give the opportunity for someone to roll back their infringement. It seems to be discussed a lot recently but has been a long-term issue since forever. As Terry as said (as well as others) more than once, the witch-hunt that gets spun up is often causing us greater harm than the perpetrator… once we start seeing long-standing table creators decide to take their ball and go home due to the drama surrounding their work it might be time for a change of tact.

There’s a big difference between those who aren’t active community members / shady types…. and those who are active in the community and aren’t as familiar with the rules and etiquette.
He’s someone who at least tries to do the right thing and be in the community. That takes way more courage than saying “screw this crap… I’m taking my stuff and going home”.

I honestly don’t know him myself. I saw a few post at vpf and saw some of his YT videos. I was more referring to the fact that he decided to make the changes with the AIO files fairly quickly when the community spoke up. Better than others have done.
I don’t details beyond that honestly.

I’d be fine with lifting the ban for now. He’s made some good first steps, including an admission on his channel that he screwed up and upset people.

I had the typical Scarface poster in my dorm room in college, and it’s a good movie, but nothing can compare to Godfather, unless you stack up Goodfellows, Donnie Branco, Black Mass, The departed and casino, that might compare, Forget about it!

Just My 2 cents as I’m just an end user who respects and appreciates all that the devs, authors, and contributors do for the community. From what I have seen from MajorFrenchy, he has done some good contributing to the VP community (unlike a certain down under cab builder), he heard the community push back, admitted fault, closed down the issue and apologized for his actions, all in a quick manner. Everyone makes mistakes, given his previous track record of contributing I would consider lifting the ban. Again, just my 2 cents. Thanks for your time.

Positive vibes man.. we all need to just get along man… we need a Cheech on Chong table too. I went back and downloaded scarface, what a cool table for its time. I think the only reason I didn’t have it was because of the profanity and the kids, but I do have all the naughty tables you guys made. Shame shame! I don’t know if I could pull off an orininal table even though Scottywic has a pretty cool setup going. I could find a good table with crappy artwork and reskin that. Any suggestions for Godfather

Ahhhh, get it now. I saw Lethal Weapon 2 the other day and can’t take Pesci seriously in that kind of movie. Besides that movie was great when I was 10 but now can’t stand watching it. I must admit I read that a couple times and couldn’t figure it out, lol

@Tom – i’m strongly considering doing a Cheech and Chong table as was joking about this previously with a friend on the FB group… if I can find a suitable base table to MOD (with permission) and if I get time of course ;)
Glad to see the video response from Frenchy, as kindly linked by Terry. Basically this is exactly what i expected from him. Would also support a lift of any ban that’s in place for this individual.
