    Tales of the Arabian Nights Skitso Detail Mod 1.6

    This table mod is based on JPSalas' great original VPX creation. I've also used parts of Fluppers Shiny mod and Hannibals 4k mod.

    Version 1.0:

    • Redrawn skillshot playfield
    • Redrawn apron
    • Higher resolution PF (modified from hannibal)
    • Reworked shadows
    • Reworked lights
    • Added ball shadow
    • Fixed bleeding PF insert lights
    • Added missing details (screws etc)
    • Small plastics texture fixes
    • New POV
    • Authentic cabinet sides
    • Overall polish

    Version 1.1:

    • Improved "Collect Jewel" ramp texture
    • Improved PF
    • Added shadows to ramp supports
    • Small lighting tweaks
    • Further improved Skillshot PF texture
    • Tweaked cabinet side texture
    • Modulated Lights (thx Thalamus)
    • 7.1 directional sound (thx Thalamus)

    Version 1.2:

    • Changed metal ramp from gold to chrome as in original table
    • Fixed metal ramp bottom connection to align better
    • Fixed orb switch to work as intended
    • Small PF, plastics, insert lights and shadow improvements
    • Added fast flips script and fixed the related sound issue

    Version 1.21:

    • Fixed one insert light

    Version 1.3:

    • Fixed ramp separator being inside the spiral ramp (thx Draifet!)
    • Fixed popping sound distortion the lower right ramp rolling SFX
    • Few minor material improvements
    • Polished wire ramp connection on the lower right part of the table
    • Wire ramp is now bronze
    • Greatly improved inserts lighting.
    • Improved play field image (fixed muddy "shoot again", "Sinbad" and "Cyclops" inserts
    • Fixed insert light fade speeds (were too slow)

    Version 1.4:

    • Fixed golden symbols to be golden (and not orange, thanks for the tip Manolo)
    • Polish in the left orbs area (kicker, switch, light/shadows)
    • Polish in the Make a Wish hole area and the flasher above
    • Play field image polish around the ball lock area
    • Redrawn and resized yellow switches around the table.

    Version 1.5:

    • Added the missing upper right corner lighting flasher
    • Improved the flasher behind the genie.
    • Added the missing green light bulb to the skillshot playfield
    • Removed the ugly 2d-Cobra
    • Fine tuned lights around the ball lock area (and few others)
    • Fine tuned Collect Jewel ramp decal

    Version 1.6:

    • Improved collect jewel ramp decal and lighting
    • Better resolution plastics
    • Added fine detail
    • Added detail to fireball ring toy
    • Toned down playfield shadow and slight texture retouch
    • Few small GI lighting improvements
    • Better ball scratches for improved ball rolling visuals
    • re-positioned apron

      Sounds good – at this Table i always stop and listen to the BG Music at PinballX :-)
      Great if you have all Jewels and Fight vs. the Enemies, a really great Table.
      Also played the real Machine, it’s a hard Beast ! So i love the VPX very much ;-)

      What a beauty it is! Thank you for your hard work!

       

      Just played it and noticed 2 (minor) things here:

      • analogue plunger: with these settings the plunger can not reach the 3rd (last) hole to make the skillshot. I changed the release speed from 100 to 115 and that did the job
      •  This only happened once to me: ball wanted to drain at left side, those spikes came up but instead of ‘caging’ the ball it was pushed upwards underneath the plastic there. Now, I do see there is a rubber band there but the ball just disappeared underneath that plastic. Shaking, nudging whatever didn’t release the ball, needed to exit the table and restart.

      @Flupper : So. that is what you are working on. Thanks for the peek into the future. WW was a true masterpiece. Well. All your tables are. I have a few friends that know really well how a pinball should play and they all agreed that you nailed it. :rose:

      Yes, with several improvements:

      • lamp has a normal map in VPX, so you have a gold lamp with real detailed reflections (and a completely new texture)
      • Genie is retextured; I am still looking for higher res images, so if anybody knows someone who knows someone… Or someone willing to take new photos of the genie from all angles…
      • ramps are full projected-from-view with proper transparency, thanks to a new feature of beta Blender 2.8
      • inserts are all new and prerendered; with a new solution in VPX, every insert has a real off texture and a fully dimmable on-texture
      • new custom pinball bats, just for fun (” fireball” bats)
      • All the metals and plastics will also be fully projected from view (for GI on/off and flashers) but that is not in yet

      Amazing job Skitso. This table is getting better and better with every mod.

      And, jeeezus, the King of Transparent Ramps has returned! Anything Flupper touches turns to gold… sexy, transparent, gold!

      Skitso brings us an even better PF than Hannibal (which, imo,  felt like a bad upscale from JPSalas’s original), but Flupper is bringing an even cleaner, sharper PF in the future.

      Thank you to the both of you.

       

      edit: oh, Skitso, that the ball shadow makes a huge difference to the immersive feel. And also, I scored a little over 24 million on my first try with your table. :D
