EM kicker cup mesh pack
Here is a mesh and texture for a 1960s era Gottlieb kicker cup. Slight variations on this cup can be found throughout the 60s and 70s from every manufacturer. This replaces a visible VP kicker.
Orientation on these seems to vary depending on placement so I made a notched left and notched right version. I also included textures for a white, red, and yellow version. It is easy to see on the texture where the cup colors are so you can add other colors in Photoshop if needed.
Usage:
- Physics should be turned off for the mesh.
- Mesh rotates perfectly at ObjRotZ.
- The sides of the cup start at Z -5, which is approximately where the bevel would meet the cup.
- You can scale x,y,z as needed to match the hole you cut out. Correct playfield depth is achieved when Z scale is at 100 and Z height is at 0.
- With a light lower than -24 and an active VP material at .99999 or lower you should be able to light it up from beneath.
I also included a mesh called ”kickcupphysics”.
Usage:
- Physics should be turned on for this mesh if you want it to catch and hold a ball.
- This should be invisible but can be placed in the exact same XYZ position and scale as your visible kicker mesh.
- This cheats with simplified geometry and a slight taper near the bottom to keep the ball centered in the kicker cup (centering won’t matter if you are using a small, centered VP kicker).
The VPX file included in this zip has the cup meshes and physics mesh scaled and textured for easy copy/pasting into your project.
