Yeah I’m pretty much the same. I would buy it because I love it and love playing it. Having it hold it’s money or even going up some would be a bonus…. and if history showed that rare machines did that, well it would make the decision to buy all the more easier. ;)
No it’s a money deal only. I love it for the “Firepower like” game play plus the art, sound and lighting is excellent (I get enjoyment just looking at it), but it’s still a lot of coin so I have to consider the investment side. I’d be happy to break even in a few years as I have had a fantabulous machine for that period, but I don’t want to…[Read more]
Urggh! I was so close to buying the “like new” Williams Star Light that we have on display in our art gallery yesterday.
The owner has four restored machines for sale at the moment (inc. a Black Night 2000 that tempted me) but Star Light is one of just a 100 build and it’s believed that there are only 40 left world wide. With the bank’s s…[Read more]
I had considered the model mentioned at VPF, but the reviews kinda put me off….
“It has extremely low input lag which is excellent for gamers but the response time is only decent so some blur is visible behind fast moving objects. When viewed at an angle the image also loses accuracy, so the best…[Read more]
I may have left my run a bit late to upgrade to 4k, as it seems that 40inch 4k are as rare as rocking horse shit these days.
I know I could squeeze a 43inch in my cab, but I would need to route about 8mm out of each of my 18mm side panels and that is a job that I would really like to avoid if I could. So I’m going to have a look for second hand…[Read more]
I’ve finally completed my SSFLEDs (formerly PMDLEDs) and wired the under and back cab lighting to the unused side of the trigger relays. Now when the playfield lights trigger on, the underside/back lights trigger off. All of these lights are “hard triggered” from SSF and no ambient sound triggers are being used.
It’s been 3 years, and I still don’t have artwork on mine!
The “original” SSF cab too! ;)
Get some art on it mate. So glad that I did now…. even though there were a couple of times during the strip-down and rebuild when I was asking “why didn’t I just leave the bloody thing alone?”…[Read more]
As Thalamus eludes to, placing two in the middle may impact on the surround sound positioning if used for anything but bass.
You could try running them off the .1 sub output of the two SSF amps and see how much vibe they add, but this would have to be done in consideration with any audio subs that you may or may not want to run. SSF is very…[Read more]
