This is a stand up target I made for Gilligan’s Island, it has a normal map to make it appear to have more complexity to it’s plastic. It also has custom rendered textures when used in conjunction with the materials included will give you a nice plastic effect with any color you choose.  You can adjust the materials opacity to suit your needs, you can make it solid if you want as well but it wasn’t really intended for that.

These look great Dark!  What would happen if you made light insert primitives like these and put a bulb below them?  Do you think it would create a more realistic lighting effect?

For something so flat, regardless of the method the end result is flat, 2d so I don’t really see it benefiting much from being made in 3D, I think people have tried.  It would really only be practical for very plain standard looking inserts otherwise it would be a lot of work to make all the individual inserts for an entire table.  Lastly I think it’s kind of a waste of performance, should really try to save dynamic 3D primitives for stuff that’s actually 3D, most inserts are made up of lots of tiny ridges, to actually have those modelled would add up to a lot of polys.
