Installing the contactors (10) was quite easy and works like charm. The last step in getting full DOF support for my pincab was to install the knocker.
I clearly messed up and blew up one of the Ledwiz banks. The knocker worked but in the process also distroyed the Ledwiz bank.
Can someone please point me in the right direction how I need to connect the Knocker/Relay/Ledwiz? I attached 3 pictures:
1) The initial setup which clearly did not work for the Ledwiz
2) My next best guess after reading more on connecting Relays
3) The connections layout of the Relay
Thanks for your insight and help, this is my first experience with Relays and I’m not there yet

July 9, 2016 at 9:08 am #33090@sensless well i would only use relay to switch 24v+. ground the other knocker wire to common ground, and only use relay to switch 24v+

July 9, 2016 at 2:19 pm #33097Thanks randr, am a bit of a noob when it comes to connection relays. From the overview of the 1404-c2 relay where do I wire what?

July 9, 2016 at 4:56 pm #33118If you connect your knocker like this, your LEDWiZ is save.
For this example I shown a 12V Relays (like yours) and a 24V power supply for the knocker. You can also take every relays and every power supply that you need, this is only an example. Important is that the LEDWiZ only give the signal to the relays to switch. The power for the knocker is an own circuit.

July 9, 2016 at 5:17 pm #33121Great, thanks a lot! Pictures makes things so much easier.
The relay is actually a 24V. Does that mean I can just use the same 24V power supply to connect to the relay and the ledwiz (see altered pic)?

July 9, 2016 at 8:17 pm #33126That will work. The Relays close the Knocker circuit and the LEDWiZ give only the signal to toggle the Relay. I connect my knocker also with a 24V Relay (see attachment, it is labeled in german but I think you it is self-explanatory).

July 10, 2016 at 9:11 am #33147If you want to test new wiring change port for knocker temporarily to another bank output in dof tool and test with ledwiz you have that way if something is wrong you won’t fry the new one :). Don’t forget the diode on the knocker

July 11, 2016 at 11:26 am #33175Good suggestion! I’ve already placed a diode on the knocker. Will report back when things are up and running (or not) :).

August 3, 2016 at 10:44 am #34202YEAH!! After a cruel some wait of two and a half weeks for the new LedWiz to arrive and paying almost double for the card (shipping and was also ‘fined’ as it was part of the random check for customs in The Netherlands).
Today I followed up on the help I received from randr and takut (thanks guys!) and installed the knocker. I works like a charm and really gives a loud knock that will give that much desired startle when triggered. My DOF setup is now complete with a RBG led bar, 10 contactors and a knocker. Now that I have some addtional ledwiz ports left I think I will look into some led bars for under the cab but will leave that until the Christmas holidays.
Time to focus on playing!

August 3, 2016 at 4:28 pm #34211Haha I don’t want to push it. A shaker would make life a bit more challenging at home. I’m already pushing it with the knocker, knowing the pincab has a nice spot in the living room…
