You’re welcome to my Blender files if you just want to pull the mesh and original texture out w/o any raytracing. I can see where trying to de-light textures would be a pain.

August 31, 2019 at 4:20 am #143736But it’s still a ton of work, eh?
Great stuff once again!
The more i render stuff the more i believe that JP’s or Herweh’s method is the best way to do a table just because it fits better to the way VPX is working. And it saves people a lot of time. Just a view metal renderings and a shadow layer and LUT for GI on off. I think that a lot of authors have moved away from table making because of the excessive amount of time they have to invest into just one single table.
This would also mean a lot less work for you, i guess!

August 31, 2019 at 9:30 am #143755@Schreibi34 yes its a lot of work.. for anyone making a table its a huge time investment. Just as a small example of what I do , the backbox frame to this table took 4-5 hours to do, 1-2 hours to find the right images, 2 hours fixing the perspective as no images were available , and then 1 hour to rebuild portions of the photo that was not available usually the top 2 edges of the backbox.

September 4, 2019 at 8:37 pm #144115Both are quite fun.. super hard to play without nudging.. when I play with my kid I don’t nudge, because he can’t.

September 4, 2019 at 8:44 pm #144116Caring restraint, man. Good for you.
My 7 year-old was playing our Moulin Rouge EM the other day and I saw him trying to nudge the thing. Couldn’t budge it but it was a proud moment for me.

April 2, 2020 at 9:08 am #170021So I’m finally completing a triplet, I’m busy with other stuff but I don’t want to neglect modding more tables. So I put aside my other project to do up a few mods. Flintstones , Iron maiden, and finally Paul Bunyan. so one DMD, one SS, and one EM.
Here is a pick of The Flintstones Day and Night.

April 2, 2020 at 9:15 am #170023While I’m at it , I might as well show what I have been doing, I decided to make myself a FSS VP/MAME game launcher, its fully working this is an older snapshot. It allows me to launch my tables by simply selecting Day/Mid/Night from the toolbar… very convenient, and launch VP 10.5 or 10.6. it also can handle my MAME Retro games. It fully configures VP or MAME which is another major convenience..

April 2, 2020 at 2:28 pm #170082Can’t wait to try the Prolauncher, If it low overhead, it might work well in VR?

Very low overhead, all written in C/C++. The only problem is the ultrastik/ultimate-io support, not everyone has that hardware. So definitely an issue their at the configuration level.

April 2, 2020 at 3:21 pm #170106the ultrastik/ultimate-io support,
is for Mame? The VPX FSS tables would not be dependent on that, Right?
Or was this designed for that hardware to be used for both MAME and VP? :(

Yes it works for MAME but does not require mame, in fact you can launch any application you want. Its all configurable.

Thanks Bord, small in comparison to your work, but that’s what makes your stuff so damn special.
ps: Just need to do my plastics and skirt tweeks for D&N, I call it a tweek, but it’s actually a 1/2 day of work, obviously the solid state stuff. And numerous other small things until it’s as good as it can be.
