Hi all, on my main machine that serves me every day I was in Windows 7, after the transition to Windows 10 I have a problem with VPX 10.6 and older versions also (10.5 or VP9.x), at the opening of the table script the program freezes, the script page is empty and it uses the CPU at about 15-20%.
This is the only trouble, I can play all tables without problem.
I of course tried to uninstall and reinstall but the problem persists, basically I do not know what to do.Here is my configuration:
Intel Core i7-3770
RAM 20Go
Windows 10 PRO 64
GTX 1050Ti
Driver 411.70The configuration is the same as my Pincab (RAM size is different) that turns perfectly.
Thank you.

February 11, 2019 at 11:26 am #113892Is your vp installation in c:\vp or program files folder? could be permissions issue with windows 10 if installed in programfiles location

February 11, 2019 at 11:47 am #113894The installation is in Program files folder, i’m the owner of the directory and i have full control on it.

February 11, 2019 at 11:58 am #113897There is no bug something is not right with your install though. Make sure no dll’s are blocked and try a non rom table for a test maybe just try default table that is built into vp to rule out pinmame issue.

February 11, 2019 at 3:21 pm #113910Start by right clicking some dll files in vp directory and check if blocked also check permissions I suspect you have either but permissions maybe the main thing going on here. Also disable virus software like windows defender maybe

February 11, 2019 at 3:54 pm #113915Don’t – just don’t put VP in program files folder. You are asking for troubles. You believe you are the owner of that folder – not fully, believe me. Keep away from ANY windows generated folders and you will have a much easier VP life.
And why may I ask are you running anti-virus ? Turn it off, uninstall VP – put it where it belongs c:\VP or whatever.

February 11, 2019 at 4:07 pm #113917I tested this:
– Turn off NOD32.
– Uninstall VP.
– Rename the registry Key.
– Install VP in C:\VP.Don’t work, i will turn crazy.
Can it be a C++ file problem, like something is not present in Windows ?

February 11, 2019 at 4:22 pm #113919Not for regular VP. If you run eg. Freezy’ you need .net something. Same goes for Pupper, PBX. Almost all of them has some kind of extra requirement. You did use the “all-in-one” installer ?

February 11, 2019 at 4:24 pm #113920@ ze-bob did you use the all in one installer? that should take care of all permission issues if installed ic c:\visual pinball

February 11, 2019 at 4:36 pm #113922I have tested the AIO installer to test but no succes, i think that is Windows causes this issue.
The strange thing is that this trouble is only present on one PC, the 2 others are under Win 10 with no problem (no AIO installer, just standalone version and manual installations), in this one before in Windows Seven all was fine.I will be back tomorrow, thank you to all for help me, it’s very appreciated.

February 11, 2019 at 4:40 pm #113923Yeah – well, that might be part of you problem I think. All-in-one tries to install DX9 which I don’t think Win10 comes with directly out of the box ? I’m not 100% sure about it – but believe so.

February 12, 2019 at 10:35 am #113965I’m back, so in Win10 i have DX12 installed, i had a look into the Windows Event Log but nothing, just “application hang”, nothing else.
Perhaps an error with .NET Framework, which version is correct, if needed ?____________________________________________________________________

February 12, 2019 at 10:51 am #113968As I said. The requirements are included in the all in one installer. It contains DX9 runtime and some net – don’t remember which. Then I know that I have had to install a few .net versions since then. I could next time I turn on my pin make a picture of what I have installed though. Could be a smart thing to do for myself just in case the hd blows totally. I don’t take full snapshots, I must admit.

February 12, 2019 at 11:33 am #113972I made a test, i ran Windows 7 with the old disk to see what are the differences between these VP installations.
In Win7 Directx is Ver11 instead of Ver12, the only thing i can see (I think I love windows 7 !).
I will try “again” to uninstall and install the All in One installer, it’s a bit confusing.Thank you for helping me find the solution.
