I may have left my run a bit late to upgrade to 4k, as it seems that 40inch 4k are as rare as rocking horse shit these days.

I know I could squeeze a 43inch in my cab, but I would need to route about 8mm out of each of my 18mm side panels and that is a job that I would really like to avoid if I could. So I’m going to have a look for second hand before committing to the cabinet mod.

With that in mind, what 40inch 4k panels have you guys had experience with?  Obviously I need power memory state, good refresh and a good side viewing angle.

      Cheers, Rusty

Looks like routing may be the way to go then.

I had considered the model mentioned at VPF, but the reviews kinda put me off….

“It has extremely low input lag which is excellent for gamers but the response time is only decent so some blur is visible behind fast moving objects. When viewed at an angle the image also loses accuracy, so the best picture is reserved for those directly in front of the TV”

Will see if I can find one in store.

            I use an LG 43UK65 – 565mm  x 970mm

Has a great side viewing angle compared to Sony and a few others I checked, extremely low input lag (9.9/10)+ amazing 4k resolution with vivid colour.

I prefer Samsung generally, however for the Vpin cab I am extremely happy with the LG and looked much better side on than my 4K Samsung.

I had the same issue 6 months ago.

Ordered the lg 43″ , but didnt fit in my cab. I found one of the last samsungs UE40MU6470. Not high end, but good enough for cabinet

yeah I remeasured mine and a 43 is a no go. :(  Looks like I might have to build a new bottom for my cab if I want to go 4k.

@Rusty…..why not use a PC monitor instead ?? Also these are quite available .

                  https://www.amazon.co.uk/iiyama-X4071UHSU-B1-ProLite-MVA-Monitor/dp/B016UPDKIW

I have this one in my cab and it’s superb…….still i will upgrade as soon as 144Hz HDR panels will be available someday.

I did look for a PC monitor but found nothing locally here in OZ.  I will have another look via Amazon and the likes. Thanks.

If you route the sides out and it’s done right, I think you’ll be happy with the result. Edge to edge on the playfield looks awesome. Also the LG de-cased is really light for it’s size.

Had the same issue (no affordable 40″ available), then decided to custom build a cab around the 43″ instead.

Unfortunately de-casing the LG only saves on depth (drops down to 50mm at the deepest point). The front shroud is part of the screen from memory. If you can get the LG to work, it’s a really amazing screen. Just uploaded a video if you want to see it… skip to the end. Video’s not great because my camera is crap, although gives you an idea of how good the screen is. Good luck man!

LG 43UK65 de-cased with speakers removed.
The extra black is a shroud I added, TV is smaller black edge.
