I found a V9 version of Strange Science so i thought I’d take a crack at updating it to VPX. I got the table stripped down and would like to rebuild using higher res resources. Cleaning up the table design and the scripting aren’t too hard to figure out but I’m not a graphical artsy person. Any help with finding primatives, plastics etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

October 29, 2019 at 4:03 am #149325So…I own this table. Just got it not long ago…it’s being reworked currently and I can get you what you may need. It’s in a bit of rough shape, but nothing photoshop can’t currently fix. I’d LOVE to see this table come to VPX!…maybe some long-gamers want to chime in for assistance?  Whatcha want?

October 29, 2019 at 3:10 pm #149367Wow great! I guess first off, i would need a good pf scan and some good hi res pics/scans of the plastics.  I’ve got blender now and starting to learn that so maybe with some luck and YouTube videos i can remake the primatives. This is my first complete rework of a table so it’s going to be a long road! I may even get it to a playable condition and then hand it off to one of our resident pros to further refine it

October 29, 2019 at 3:31 pm #149368I’ve always been a fan of uploading resources, free for anyone to use. That way we don’t get into the position of someone “owning” the table afterwards.

October 29, 2019 at 4:01 pm #149371I’ve been refinishing & re-hand-painting the PF myself and it’s about 85% complete.  The plastics are in great shape. A bit yellowed, but that’s because they are 40 years old:) How are folks getting good PF scans nowadays? What’s the best technique? Again, Photoshop is my best friend to get you the best/quickest results.

October 29, 2019 at 5:19 pm #149374These are quick shots of what we are working with on my side. I have all the pieces and the backglass is in fantastic shape too. I have taken care of all the blacks, browns..most of the reds…almost none of the blues or whites. It was a commercial machine so as you can tell it’s seen some cigarette smoke. It could be a couple of weeks until I am finished unless we work with Photoshop, but here are the goods. Let me know if these would/could be better than what we have at VPF. Also, beer.

November 10, 2019 at 11:08 pm #150787Brandon (or anyone else), would you be able to post a high quality picture of the back wall? Also could you send more pics of the table like maybe hq overhead shots of bumper caps, plastics, etc? I’m making a lot of progress and have a complete working table that plays pretty well and close to the real pin but I’m in need of good quality images now to continue.
Thanks in advance

November 30, 2019 at 11:54 pm #153088I moved this topic to the WIP forum since i started development a few weeks ago.
Shout out to BrandonLaw who has been giving me a hand with sending me pics and scans of his real table which has been a big help.
And also to Bord who has offered to give a hand with creating the remaining primitives (I currently have place holders where they should be).

December 1, 2019 at 3:04 am #153115@agentEighty6 is doing a fantastic job in the conversion! Man the script is looking nice and the table is piecing together just as well! @Bigus has also signed on so big thanks to @Bigus and @Bord for their help as this table is dear to me. We have work to do, but stay tuned!

January 7, 2020 at 5:52 pm #157358Nope, still in progress! We’re (actually bord is) finishing up the primitives and we’re going to refine the plastics a bit and it’ll be out before you know it!

January 7, 2020 at 6:10 pm #157361It’s true. I’m the holdup! All modeling is done. Need to wrap up texturing and VP placement this week and get it back to the table developers. They’ve done a great job.

January 10, 2020 at 9:15 am #157719I’ve never seen this game but I thought, this artwork looks really a lot like escape from lost world (I’ve been retouching the PF the past few days). A quick pinside search tells me not only is the artist the same, its the same game designer, both released about a year apart from bally
Anyway this is looking great, cant wait to play!

January 11, 2020 at 6:35 pm #157956Work is looking great so far. Not sure if this has been shared or is of any help? Just came across it looking for some artwork to add to my table with the VP9 version for now. It’s not the highest of res by any means but thought i’d share either way.
