Fathom (Bally 1981) Topper+DMD+Wheel Kit
New topper videos/images and DMD videos/images for one of my favorite tables, the absolutely visually stunning Fathom (Bally 1981) both the LED Mod and Vintage Mod.
If your setup does not have a Topper Video Screen, and you DO use a “Virtual DMD”, you can always run this Topper video on your Virtual DMD screen instead!
All topper videos are set up to seamlessly loop. Multiple versions to choose from – with or without Fathom title and different water bubble brightness.
Per request, 21:9 versions are included.
All Topper Videos & Images: 1280 x 390 px MP4 format
All DMD Videos & Images: 128 x 32 px
DMD Videos are compressed in BMP AVI format for razor sharp clarity on RealDMDs and RealColorDMDs.

This project took considerable time and I wanted to share it with everyone … so “thanks” or comments in the support topic would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a virtual DMD you can always run it on that seeing this table doesn’t use the DMD at all.

January 15, 2020 at 3:12 pm #158721If I ever get around to upgrading my video card, this kit just might motivate me to add a topper. For now – – going on the dmd!! Thanks again for the work you’re putting out!

January 17, 2020 at 8:12 pm #159038This looks really nice! I know the description says “Load selected videos and images files into PinballX or other front end program”, but I’m not sure where to place this file for running straight from VPX. Also, what else do I need to set/change in order to get this running in VPX?
Thanks!

I don’t think you can display topper videos and DMD videos if you are running the table “straight from VPX”. VPX will play the table and backglass only. You need to use a front end system like PinballX or PinUp to run the videos as a wrapper container around VPX playing the other files.

January 19, 2020 at 7:31 pm #159462Which folder does this need to go in for Popper and what do I need to do within the Popper settings to get this playing when the table loads from the FE?
The only way I know to get something playing on the DMD screen (for tables without a DMD) is if the files are part of a PUP pack. The files then go into the PUP pack folder with the appropriate ROM name.
This one doesn’t seem to work like this.
Even when launching the table from Popper FE, is this image supposed to stay on the DMD screen during gameplay?
If so, where do I put the file to get it to stay on during gameplay?
Thanks.

January 24, 2020 at 8:57 pm #160410Thanks @outhere, that worked.
Is there a way to only have the video or picture show up on the DMD once the table is loaded instead of replacing my default DMD in Popper?

February 6, 2020 at 7:15 pm #162022I am loving these kits @hirez00 ! For a handful of them – this one, Diner, I wouldn’t mind having the video continue to display on my DMD during gameplay. I know Scooby appears to be after something similar but I’m just using PBX with a monitor for DMD. Hate to be a pillock, but I have searched a number of threads and tried various settings without success.
Again, thanks for the hours of work you’ve put into these. Really adds a lot to the cab.

February 6, 2020 at 10:10 pm #162037If you’re seeing the video in PinballX and it turns off when you start up the actual table, that is an easy fix.
Go to Game Manager for Pinball X and go to the settings for this particular table. Right under the table file link and the table name / description and company info there are a couple of check boxes for Enable, Hide Backglass, Hide DMD and Hide Topper.
If you are using these videos on your DMD, make sure “Hide DMD” is unchecked. This means that any video running on the dmd in Pinball X will continue to stay on that screen when you launch the table.
You should ONLY use this option on tables that don’t use the DMD during gameplay.

NICE!!!
I like your “apron”. Is that part of the video or is it an overlay taking up the space between your cab edge and the screen?

February 7, 2020 at 8:46 pm #162125It’s a spacer. Thin board with a Stern sticker and some tokens from the 80’s that I’m amazed I hung onto…and was inspired to put them there by Gwen’s build. It’s lit up by a bizarre happenstance. I installed a very bright led strip behind the coin door when there was still an opening to the apron that I’d meant to seal off. Glad I didn’t. So yeah, I have a double apron on most tables..but love how this looks and feels.
that token to the right is a tad naughty. Came out of a token dispenser at the mall arcade.
