      Hi

If my downloaded ROM file is not compressed… is this a problem?

Should I zip or rar? does it really matter?

Yes it is a problem and you should use regular zip.

Maybe your browser is unzipping file automatically after its downloaded? have not seen that option in years but never a good idea if its doing that

If you have the windows file manager set to  to automatically open downloaded files it will open a folder with the unzipped file in it.  You either need to go up a level in the directory hierarchy or turn off “open files” when you download.
