Hi folks. I have a trashed F-14 Tomcat from Williams that I’m going to use for my first ever build. That’s my all time favorite pinball table so it’s going to have a (hopefully) great next life. Since the ever entertaining TerryRed youtube channel is what steered me here and since I really like his table (to the point of unhealthy obsession) I am going to try to build something similar. I have to get the cabinet over here to my place and stripped out then I will look at my layout to determine what monitors to go with. I need to start picking up the hardware and have been reading up on what others are using. Does anything here stand out as not recommended:
EVGA 750 Power Supply
Geforce GTX 1070 graphics card
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Processor
Crucial MX500 500 gig SSD
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB memory(2 x 8)
MSU AMD Ryzen B350 DDR4
I don’t want to be too overkill but want something that won’t need replacing in six months. I plan on having a few lights and solenoids but won’t be as fanciful as some other builds. I will add pics here of the cabinet and update my progress. I am not punching a clock and have no set timetable. We are building a new home beginning fourth quarter this year and this will be for my home theater lobby. A MAME arcade cabinet is also in my future. We have a ton of arcade cabinets (14) and a few pinball machines (4) from our last house but the new house won’t have a dedicated arcade space since I am devoting all extra room to the home theater. So virtual is the answer. I am looking forward to getting to know you all as I make mistakes and ask dumb questions.
cheers!

After I’m through you’ll all know the true meaning of dumb questions. As soon as a few folks give me some feedback on my hardware shopping list, I’ll prove it ;)
