September 28, 2015 at 5:24 pm #1614Agreed, it would be awesome if we could get a couple of step by step tutorials on how to get PinballFX to work with PinballX as that appears to be challenge with the DMD on the backglass. I have steam installed on the cabinet ready to go, just need to figure this out.

September 28, 2015 at 8:31 pm #1618I don’t personally use fx2 so I’m no help… don’t think randr does either. I notice PinballX keeps trying to auto-install the fx2 tables into the front end though, I need to keep deleting that config file every time I update…

November 3, 2015 at 5:58 am #2166I got PInballFX2 working flawlessly with PinballX using the guide in this thread. PBFX2 has built in support now for moving the DMD to the backglass but no real DMD support.

What config file? I have the same problem of fx auto installing in pinballx. In my case it doesn’t work. I moved the file to another location and it does work. But now my problem is i have two of each FX table and would like to delete the auto install or I would need to know exactly what’s the file location of the auto install, where exactly is pinballx looking for it. I could just reinstall steam in it’s default location, but that means redownloading all my games. So far i’ve put up with this but it would be nice to sort it out.

December 21, 2015 at 4:22 pm #8954It’s the XML in the Pinball FX2 directory of PinballX, actually don’t think deleting it works, you have to rename it

I think I tried renaming it and all I got was two Fx’s not working. Funny thing is I got the pinball arcade working really easy. It’s probably something that needs to be toyed with to be solved. I just wish pinballx would show what directory it’s looking for and my problem would be solved and I wouldn’t be guessing the directory which is what I feel like I’m doing.
PinballX released in it’s latest version pinball arcade support, so in a way I’m afraid to try it cause the same might happen to me.

December 26, 2015 at 2:31 pm #9525I decided to try out the pinballx 2.1 update after all. Now on there they post the directory of where pinballfx2 is, which was my problem before. I was running 2.05. Now I have fx2 running with no problem, one fx2. But on 2.1 all my problems are pinball arcade related. I’m running the pbafreecammod and don’t know exactly how I should set it up on pinballx. I was playing with it and I can get it to load up but it seems like once the table starts it stops and goes back to main menu. I tried running PBA as an other program but it does the same as the 2.05 one does, if you say no you don’t want the default PBA or fx2 to play it won’t play on the other system either. I suppose I could run two pinballx’s, the 2.05 and 2.1. One thing I was noticing that was kind of weird on 2.1, when i played pba and then tried vp, my vp’s were twisted 90 degrees or upside down, so maybe they need a pinballx update to 2.11 I don’t know, but 2.05 seems the most stable to me so that’s where my pinballx program will reside.

January 25, 2016 at 9:01 am #11728Hey Rocknroll, I have had TPA working great since 2.11 with the “freecammod” and it auto selects the game you select in the PinballX menu.
Make sure you also add “skipwhatsnew” without quotes to my Steam Launch options for Pinball Arcade so the selection routine does not get messed up when TPA launches in PinballX.

January 25, 2016 at 9:06 am #11730Hey pinheads I am going to try to setup MAME in pinballX. I have 3700 roms that I had from before but really only want to setup the top 100 or so games in cab that play well in a pinball cabinet.
For pinheads that have it working good, what version of the MAMA.exe do you use? I have MAME32.exe and its not working that great in the cab. I am looking for a version that just works well and no hassle.
Can someone post their PinballX setup (screenshot) to launch MAME and perhaps post their XML file so I can give it a shot this week. Thanks in advance!

January 25, 2016 at 9:50 pm #11766I have to configure TPA too in my cab, is the only one I left alone lol. I’ll try it this week. thanks for the link Paulo, will try and report back.
I have mame configured in my pinballx cab too. It’s pretty easy, the only problem that you may find is that if you like to have those cool bezels you have to use an specific old version of mame that have been compiled with the changes. If not, regular latest version will works… and better because of the fixes/updates/optimizations.
The best version of mame, in my opinion is mameguifx64. If you need a no-nag full edition let me know. I have the old cab mame too if you want to try, need a good tv for refresh rate/vsync don’t mess with you.

January 26, 2016 at 2:07 pm #11801Hey dude, here is my TPA XML configured with all 66 tables with grid option set:

I am also uploading to mega my PBAFreeCamMod directory and all my tweaked cam views for the 66 tables to give you a head start. Once you get it working, you can tweak to your screen size. Will post link shortly, it’s 300MEGS.

January 27, 2016 at 9:42 am #11819Vamp, can you post your XML for MAME so I can have a headstart in my setup? I don’t want to add to many games. And perhaps snapshot of your MAME setup from the pinballX.ini…

January 28, 2016 at 5:12 am #11859if you use regular commandline version MAME.exe you can create mame.ini with “mame.exe -cc” (cmd or .bat File)
Then you have the mame.ini, here you set rotate to 1 and rol to 1 at a Cab, or ror.Or you can set it all over PinballX by Executable, example: mame.exe -fullscreen -rol
