Problem Vpinmame 2.9 – Pinball X – PinDMD3…

Upgrading my pals cab that now has the following spec:
Pinball X front end
PinDMD3 display RGB
Vpinmame 2.9
VPX (10.2.1)

When I test VPINMAME using the colored ROMS (yes I have the ALTCOLOR files as well with the pin2dmd.pal files) on Spiderman Vault, Metallica LE and Family guy coloured – they all start perfectly.

When running them from VPX directly I dont get them colourised.  Even after pressing F1 and changing the settings to COLOURED.  All the other VPX tables work well an no DMD issues.  The tables do still start but with a single colour DMD.

When I now open up PinballX I can not see ANYTHING on the DMD – but the VPX games start OK – except for the colourised rom versions which just freeze and the screen sometimes goes white, after a minute – it goes back to the Pinball X menu.

This is after me uninstalling and reinstalling Pinball X, Vpinmame and VP this evening.

I am still no further on than 24 hours ago – when the only fault was I could not get the games to work in Pinball X.  But the display worked fine when games launched without Pinball X.

I have updated the latest PinDMD3 files as well as the XDMD files – I read the best place to put the ‘device.dll’ files is in Windows/systemWOW

Dont really want to do a clean install.  Im sure its something daft.

Suggestions please!

I thought the device.dll needed to go in the vpinmame folder

I have read thru that.  Confusing about certain things in the VP world.  Everything set up fine in my cab with pin2dmd but pindmd3 seems to be a ball ache.  Especially as it works fine in VPINMAME test mode.

Spent another 3 hours on my pals cab today.  CAN NOT get PinMAME v2.9 working with the coloured roms.   V2.8 seems to work okay but does have some glitches ie some tables wont start for 2 of three goes within pinball x (but start in VPX standalone fine).

I think it is about time he shifted on his pindmd3 !

Could you maybe be more specific to which tables doesn’t work ? I’ve yet to add several to pinballx myself and it would be interesting to see if I experience the same. If we do, well, then there is at least something we can report and fix.

I find its pinmame2.9 that crashes out with the coloured roms.
If I install pinbmame2.8 and use the non coloured roms the games work fine.

edit – after playing on my personal cab tonight – I am finding the same issue with the Stern ‘colored’ rom games with Pin2DMD running thru Pinball X.  Again they work perfectly out of Pinball x…..

Is it just me with this issue?
