I’m a little confused. If I’ve been running 10.6 betas, do I need to run the all-in-one installer, or is it okay to just grab the .exe standalone update? And if I use the all-in-one installer, is it best to install to a new directory, rather than over the top of my 10.6 beta installation?

October 10, 2019 at 3:16 pm #147663If you have used betas. Then you are just fine downloading only the minimal version of 10.6. Be aware though. I believe that the installer has a updated db2s server that you don’t get. If you don’t stray from recommended setup. A install using the installer, overwriting to the old path is not a problem, as long as you remember to update pinmame afterward. Terry also mentioned that you might need to updated a dll for pup-pack too. The official release doesn’t really support the color enabled dmd and to run tables with pup-packs there is this extra dll that needs to be inserted too. That is why a minimal might be the easiest upgrade, except if you’ve messed up something.

October 23, 2019 at 4:23 pm #148812Just realized that after updating to 10.6.0, nudging is no longer working. I have the VirtuaPin controller, and if I open the utility for it, it shows that the board is working and registers nudges. The settings in VPX are unchanged from what I had before. Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

October 23, 2019 at 4:31 pm #148813That sounds weird to be honest. I always used DiView to see that values are actually read correctly. DiView stands for Direct Input View and it is essential that this application is seeing values change. VP is a DirectX application. I don’t know VirtuaPin controller enough to say that if that may be the culprit or not. You have tried the nudge table ?

October 23, 2019 at 4:40 pm #148814Yes, in the nudge table, the sensors show nothing changing. I know in the past, I had to adjust the X-max and Y_max values to be non-zero for nudging to work. In the scripts directory, there are multiple nudge scripts, I think before I was using “NudgePlugIn_mjrAccelAndTilt.vbs” and re-naming it to “NudgePlugIn.vbs”, tried that and nothing changed. The VirtuaPin controller is the same hardware as mjr’s, at least that’s my understanding.
I’ll look for DiView, assuming that’s something I download, Windows doesn’t seem to know it inherently.

October 23, 2019 at 4:48 pm #148815Yes. It is external program. And you should maybe have a look in the wiki for nudge info.

Maybe your computer only needs a reboot ?

October 23, 2019 at 7:04 pm #148824Got it working. Had to go into the VirtuaPin settings and invert x and y response. Not sure why, but it works now.

December 27, 2019 at 12:14 am #155878Is the .exe supposed to be run in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode? For some reason, the properties of VPinballX.exe show up as:
and I can’t change the compatibility mode setting. The .exe also has the symbol on it that it’s being run as Admin, even though that box isn’t checked.
If I change the name of the file, then the Admin symbol goes away and if I then open Properties, compatibility mode is turned off. Seems really odd. For the most part, things are working fine, but have been trying to get PUP working and having issues, and one thing I have read is that nothing should be running as Admin.

December 27, 2019 at 12:51 am #155879No, the exe should be run in normal mode and preferably without admin.

Any ideas on how to correct it, since as soon as I change the file name back to VPinballX.exe, the properties revert to what I showed in the screenshot.
