Go inside the nvram folder located here:

Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\nvram

and delete the file dvlsdre.nv

What a crazy-cool project you guys undertook here!  Have only seen the clip Shelt posted but that was enough to figure out what was going on and appreciate what your team did.  Thanks for the time spent on this very unique creation!      ….is the movie really worth watching??….like all the way through?

For those who have deleted the nvram and are still having issues, I solved mine by disabling external DMD (which I generally have enabled on all my tables as I prefer to see scoring on my 3rd screen while I play).  So, press F1 and make sure external DMD is unchecked.  That was the only thing that made the table work for me and I redownloaded the rom and deleted nvram.  Running 10.6.0.

Okay how do I make it so it uses a different named ROM than Devil’s Dare so I can keep a different high score independent of each other?

 

I tried copying and renaming dvlsdre to dvlsdre1 and changed accordingly in the script to use dvlsdre1 but it now gets an error.  How can I make it so they both store a different high score?

Also notice Willy’s toggles off “Use Sounds” in the rom (for obvious reasons such as you don’t want Devils Dare sounds when playing Willy) and after playing Willy and going back to Devils Dare I therefore have no sounds.  Another reason for me wanting to figure out how to make them each use their own separate rom.

Hi Goldchicco,  So i watched the video and a couple other links and I thought I followed the instructions correctly but I guess I missed something.  BTW running VPX 10.6.

This is what I did..

 

1) Copied the dvlsdre.zip rom in the rom folder and renamed the copy dvlsdre1.zip.  Now have dvlsdre.zip and dvlsdre1.zip

2) Create a VPMAlias.txt file in the vpinmame folder, with a line in it like this:

dvlsdre1, dvlsdre

3) Open the Willy’s Wonderland table (btw awesome table) and modify the script to use dvlsdre1

( cGameName = “dvlsdre1”)

 

Still get rom error gamename not found

 

Read on a forum to o this…

Search for .GameName = cGameName and add ths line below it:

NVOffset (2)

 

Couldn’t find .GameName=cGameName so I just added those 2 lines below cGameName = “dvlsdre1

.GameName = cGameName

NVOffset (2)

 

Still doesn’t load.

You don’t rename the ROMs or VpinMame will not recognize them amd will give you error.

So keep the ROMs with their original name, open instead VPMAlias.txt and create the Alias there.

Just to be complete: in the script of this table (Willy’s Wonderland), find the cgamename as you did before and make sure it says:

cGameName = “dvlsdre1″

Delete the extra line you created as that is not good.

Now go into the folder c:\Visual Pinball\Vpinmame and search for the file VPMAlias.txt. Edit that file and add the line:

dvlsdre1,dvlsdre

If you want you can delete the file you created (c:\Visual Pinball\Vpinmame\Roms\dvlsdre1.zip) as it is not needed.

That should do it. Hope that helps. If it does not load, maybe download another ROM file (that is the dvlsdre.zip file)

 

Great table by the way, cannot believe all of the skills and time this must take !!  Thanks to the creators for all your efforts !

Firstly thanks to all for your help.  Always truly amazed how this community helps each other.

I did everything Ronaldvg suggested.  Even reboot (obvious) after changes.  I also deleted the copied rom that I added a 1 onto the name(dvlsdre1.zip).  Just have the one original rom and the alias file.  Fails to load.  Cannot find rom.  The only thing I can do successfully is have both table share the same rom.

Tried several roms and they all work with both tables (Devils and Willy) but not when using the alias file.

 

Once again, have this in my alias file : dvlsdre1,dvlsdre

the cgamename in willys is dvlsdre1

its probably something dumb i am doing wrong and getting frustrated.

Question.  I had to create the VPMAlias.txt.  Is that normal?  There wasn’t already one.

Sounds like you need to update your Visual PinMAME.

VPMAlias was added in version 3.3b

Installation:
Simply copy all of the files in the ZIP into your already existing Visual PinMAME directory. Overwrite already existing files there when asked.

Run Setup.exe and press the ‘Install’ button.

Great work on this table!!!
