Requirements:
Tron Legacy (Stern Ultimate) DOFLinx: MX PuP SSF 1.2 Future Pinball table.
This is the only table that will work with this PuP-Pack!
https://vpinball.com/?post_type=cmdm_page&p=93453
PinUP System installed and updated to 1.3.4 or greater.
(Pinup Popper front end gets installed but is NOT required) PinUP Player needs to be setup for your system.
https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/pinup-system-player-and-popper-front-end-install/
PinUp System updates:
http://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=release_notes
B2S Server 1.3.0.2 or higher installed (required for DOF).
If you don’t have VPX or B2s Server at all, I’d recommend installing the VPX All in One Installer to setup VPX, B2S Server, etc easily (even if you don’t want VPX). Install to default locations. Just make sure when it asks if you are using a 2nd screen for Backglass, you say YES! That is needed to install and enable B2S Server, even if you are not a cabinet user. Then download and update to B2S Server 1.3.0.2 afterward.
https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/vpx-installer-10-4-0/
B2s Server 1.3.0.2:
https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=12553
DOF R3++(required for DOFLinx). Use mjr’s easy to use Installer:
http://mjrnet.org/pinscape/dll-updates.html
DOFLinx 6.31 or higher (to trigger PinUp Player videos and SSF). Must be setup for your system:
https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=12318
Make sure you have copied the newest DOFLinx.vbs file into your Future Pinball – Scripts folder!
Topper screen NOT Required:
I have included 2 versions of the PuP-Pack. One for those with a Topper screen, and another for those with an Under screen.
You DO NOT require one of those screens to use this PuP-Pack. You can simply disable the Topper screen of this PuP-Pack using the PuPack Editor.
If you don’t have a Topper or Under screen space in your cabinet, then it is REQUIRED to turn off the Topper of this PuP-Pack using the PuPack Editor!
SSF Optional:
If you don’t want to use the PuP SSF sounds at all, you can simply turn off the SSF Screen (Screen 4) using the PuPack Editor.
=======================
Installation:
Extract the PuP-Pack archive of your choice to a temporary folder.
Ensure there are no files in your “PUPVideos – FP_TRONLEG_STERN_ULT” folder (if that folder already exists. We don’t want any old or improper files in there getting mixed up).
Copy the PuP-Pack (FP_TRONLEG_STERN_ULT) folder into your PUPVideos folder.
=======================
Desktop Users:
Desktop users can use this table with the PuP-Pack as long as:
-they have setup all the required software noted above
-positioned the PuP Backglass and Topper screens in a good location
-are using Future Pinball in either windowed mode
-or have setup a Forced Borderless Windowed Mode (not supported natively by FP) using a program like “Windowed Borderless Gaming”. This is required because Future Pinball’s FULLSCREEN mode will stay on top and cover up the PuP Video Windows.
How to force Future Pinball to use a Borderless Windowed Mode to allow use of PuP-Packs (Required for Desktop users ONLY!)
Setup Future Pinball in a windowed mode. Then use the registry (regedit) to change your windowed mode’s width and height to the exact resolution you want:
Computer HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Future Pinball GamePlayer
Do not use the FP Editor to change video settings after this, or your FP windowed resolution may get reset again. Now download and install Windowed Borderless Gaming. (Google it if you need to)
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Configure that program to work with Future Pinball. Once setup, you simply let this program run in the background. When Future Pinball is detected and brought into focus, it will have its window forced into a Borderless Window, allowing the PuP Video Windows to display over top of the Future Pinball window.
====================
How to Use with Desktop:
Once you have everything installed and setup… DOFLinx should be running in the background first (as Admin)! Then load Future Pinball, then load your table and start right away as DOFLinx will try to connect with FP as soon as its detected. DOFLinx will timeout after a certain amount of time (configured in DOFLinx.ini) if the table isn’t completely loaded, started, and the FP Link isn’t established yet.
After the table completely loads and starts, the table will look like it is isn’t working because its not lit up. This is normal for this specific table. Wait at least a good 15 seconds at this point to be sure DOFLinx has made the connection to FP (Important for the PuP-Pack).
Then when you press the START button, the table should come alive and then you should be seeing the PuP-Pack video windows for Backglass and Topper (if enabled) come on.
Now you are ready to play!
When you exit the game, exit FP completely so DOFLinx will close the Link to FP and also close the PuP-Pack.
How to Use with a Cabinet:
Once you have everything installed and setup… DOFLinx should always be running in the background (as Admin)! Launch the table using your front end (like Popper or PBX). DOFLinx will will detect FP, and try to establish a link with it. DOFLinx will timeout after a certain amount of time (configured in DOFLinx.ini) if the table isn’t completely loaded, started, and the FP Link isn’t established yet.

Then when you press the START button, the table should come alive and then you should be seeing the PuP-Pack video windows for Backglass and Topper (if enabled) come on.
Now you are ready to play!
When you exit the game back to your front end, DOFLinx with detect FP has closed and will close the Link to FP and also close the PuP-Pack.

September 17, 2018 at 11:25 pm #98506TerryRed, I have installed the Pup Pack and everything is working as expected with one exception. I do not see anything in my DMD area. I’m using a 3 screen setup with the 3rd screen split between my DMD and Topper. Topper video and backglass are working. However, DMD is blank/black. My question is….does the DMD screen come from the pup-pack or FP? Any ideas greatly appreciated! Thanks.

The DMD needs to come from FP. You would use FutureDMD to run FP’s DMD in a separate window that goes there….similar to PinMAME / freezy for VPX.

May 13, 2019 at 5:48 pm #128238Not seeing any of the Pup videos. I have Pinup configured and working (got Stranger Things vpx working). I dont have either a topper or underscreen. Does it matter what version of the pack I am using?
Does my version of pin2dmd firmware or software matter? The DMD is displaying just fine (running FP 2.7). Also grabbed the latest version of DOFLinx script.

FP PuP-packs work differently. They are using DOFLinx trigger commands to trigger the pup videos. So you need to have DOFLinx installed and working as the instructions mention.

May 14, 2019 at 2:26 pm #128328May 14, 2019 at 9:32 pm #128370Make sure you are fully updated with the newest DOFLinx, and make sure you have the newest DOFLinx.vbs copied to “FuturePinball\Scripts” folder.
When the table loads….DO NOT push START right away to “turn on” the table….after it completely loads….wait for at least 15 seconds, then Press Start.
When the table “powers on”, you should see the pup-pack starup at that point. If not, then you may not have doflinx working properly.
Make sure you use BAM and run FP Loader as Admin, and also DOFLinx as Admin.

May 15, 2019 at 7:11 am #128398Hey Terry-
Got this going now Seems to have been a couple things:
- Running both DOFLinx & FP as Admin
- I HAD to rename my version 2.7 (Future Pinball_27.exe) to “Future Pinball.exe” This despite having the line in DOFLinx.ini:
PROCESSES=Pinball FX3,Pinball FX2,Future Pinball,VPinballX,VPinball994,VPinball995,Future Pinball_27
So a couple of followups here:
- Is this a limitation we can investigate with DOFLinx? I really like having multiple versions of Future Pinball!
- Can you do a video dedicated to PuP videos? I looked on your channel, but I did not see how to create triggers just for videos (unless it was buried on one of your tutorial videos somewhere). I certainly see the code to call Pupplayer in Tron Ultimate
and Finally- Thanks so much!!! This is a feature I have been wanting to see for 5+ years now! As a result, I will have to rebuild my backbox to accomodate a much larger screen (possibly add another screen too)!

There’s no need for multiple FP exe’s anymore. BAM lets you use whatever physics you want via an xml file (2.7, 2.6,etc) named the same as the table. You can use thi with any FP exe.
However, the new BAM Dynamic physics are totally different than any of the old BAM physics…and this is added directly to the table script and can be adjusted for almost anything. It’s a HUGE difference in how much better FP plays. A good example is the new Jaws Ultimate PRO. You only need the newest BAM…but the table would need to be updated with the script additions.
As for tutorials, I have a DOFLinx tutorial series…and how to make PuP-Pack videos on my chanel. The only difference with FP is adding the PuP DOFLinx commands to the table script. Use this Tron table as an example.
I’ll be making a new Jaws pup-pack for Jaws Ultimate PRO when I get time.

March 9, 2020 at 11:46 am #166486Good Morning everyone,
I’m trying to debug my FP / DOF / SSF setup, which I could never get to work fully.
Specifically: my setup is SSF, with a setup of adressable LEDs.
I have DOFLinx setup, and it works correctly with Pinball FX3, ie I have adressable LEDs and SSF Pup Packs working, so for me it seems DOFLinx is setup properly, at least with regards to Pinball FX3
Now when using this table and this pack with Future Pinball:
- I see in the log window of DOFLinx that it does acquire the link with FP
- I do get PuP videos played back on the backbox
- I do get adressable LED (so I assume DOF is working – I don’t have any other real toy )
- I do NOT get SSF feedbacks
Hence my questions:
- Is there any specific FP setting in DOFLinx vs PBFX3 (aside from the DOFLinx.vbs file which has to be copied in the scripts folder) ?
- To debug further: should I see commands being reported in DOFLinx (I don’t see anything after the “acquired link”) ?
- Is there any specific PuP Pack setting I should check (ie for example there is a SSF screen set to “Music”, should I set it up to something else ?)
- Since PuP Pack video is working, shouldn’t SSF be working as well ?
- Any other debug pointer ?
I’ve tried to reinstall FP from scratch (using BAM Arcade All in one installer), to no avail
Suggestions would be welcome
Regards

March 9, 2020 at 11:15 pm #166601If DOFLinx is working, you only need to ensure the SSF screen in the pup-pack is set to show or Music Only.
FP and DOFLinx merely triggers PuP… nothing more. After that it’s all PuP and then windows.
Both DOFLinx and Pinevent are solely using PuP for SSF. The method of triggering is a bit different for each, but as long as pup is triggered, it should work fine.
I took a look at the pup-pack…its been a LONG time since I last did.
For whatever reason…on this pup-pack (the first pup ssf that was ever done)…. the SSF sounds are on the Topper screen 0. I don’t think this matters as long as you had the Topper enabled.
That said… enable Screen 4 and set it to Music Only, then change each SSF trigger to Screen 4 and see if that helps.
This table has pretty basic SSF compared to the new Pinevent tables though.

March 10, 2020 at 5:42 am #166611Thanks Terry, I’ll check
And since I don’t have a Topper, well I disabled it so that could explain.
[EDIT] That was indeed it. I have set the Topper to “Music Only”, and I get SSF feedbacks (or so it seems, they are rather subtle, but clearly present comparend to when the Topper screen was completely disabled in the PuP Pack)
I tried that on Retroflair as well (since I have a similar issue), no luck there unfortunately.

April 8, 2020 at 6:48 pm #171313So close . . .
I figured I needed to try to get this table to work before the upcoming Jaws update so I’d be ready for it.
I’m a single screen user new to Future Pinball (much less pup packs for FP). I just finished following DOFLinx install instructions here (DOFLinx version 7.14):
https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=36184
I believe I got everything working since after waiting 15 seconds, I’ll press ‘1’ to start the table and I do see the Topper and Backglass videos appear. For the DMD, I moved MyDMD2 into the Virtual Screen area’s upper left corner.
Unfortunately, after I press ‘1’, focus goes away from the table and I can’t insert coins: ‘5’. If I click on the table, I can then insert coins and start the game but the videos disappear and won’t reappear.
Typically with VPX pup packs, I’ll edit the pupinit.bat file and add seconds to individual lines and I’ll know it’s working since I’ll see the videos flick off and then on again. But this isn’t working for this table. Here’s some details to my pupinit.bat file (I increased the seconds to over a minute ’cause the table takes a long time to load and then I wait 15 seconds on top of that):
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Visual Pinball Player” -2 68 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Form1” -1 69 0
start “” pupwinpos.exe “PUPSCREEN*” -1 69 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Visual Pinball Player” -2 70 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “PUPSCREEN*” -2 72 0Any single screen users out there with everything working? And if so, can you share your pupinit.bat details or a screen grab from the PuPPack Editor if you adjusted any of those settings.
I do have the Borderless Gaming app running in the background.
My DOFLinx.vbs file is dated Jan 18, 2020.
And here’s the details to my DOFLinx.ini. Maybe I put ‘#’ before too many lines? Since I’m a single screen user, I have no idea how Doflinx works. I got a ton of errors when I first tried running it so I added ‘#’ at the beginning of a bunch of lines to avoid the errors (like RGB error).
If anyone has a DOFLinx.ini file specific for single screen desktop users, please post if you can.

April 8, 2020 at 7:01 pm #171320So close . .
Here’s some details to my pupinit.bat file (I increased the seconds to over a minute ’cause the table takes a long time to load and then I wait 15 seconds on top of that):
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Visual Pinball Player” -2 68 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Form1” -1 69 0
start “” pupwinpos.exe “PUPSCREEN*” -1 69 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “Visual Pinball Player” -2 70 1
start “” pupwinpos.exe “PUPSCREEN*” -2 72 0
Any single screen users out there with everything working?

You’re using the wrong pupinit.bat. You need to use the one for FP Desktop only, not the VPX files.
As for Jaws… that won’t be using DOFLinx, it will be using PinEvent… so I’ll have pup-pack options specifically for single screen users.

April 8, 2020 at 7:32 pm #171326That fixed it. Thanks so much for the quick reply!!!
Can’t believe I forgot about those other batch versions. I’ll have to remember that when I eventually try to install your FX3 Aliens pup pack.
Unfortunately, I am getting a frame rate hit on this Tron table. I remember you mentioning that Jaws may have similar FR issues for single screen users. I’ve got a 9th Gen I7 with a GTX 1660TI so I thought I was good but I’m only getting around 25-38 fps.
It’s not too bad. Still fun to play.
What FR are you getting when you test your Jaws table on single screen?

April 9, 2020 at 1:17 am #171360Videos not appearing if I launch thru Pinup Popper . . .
I’m that same single screen user. I’m now using the FP version of pupinit.bat which fixed the issue of videos but no focus on the table.
Videos and focus now work but only when I launch via the FPLoader.exe in the BAM folder.
I added the game to Pinup Popper and when I launch using that frontend, the videos don’t appear. With VPX, I’ll put a delay in to the pupinit.bat file but that doesn’t seem to work here.
When I launch the game (regardless of FPLoader or Pinup Popper), I wait around 15 seconds before pressing the ‘1’. I basically wait for the “Future Pinball” logo in the lower right to disappear and then count up to an additional 10 “alligators”.
When I then press the ‘1’, is the puppack initialized at that moment and only then does pinup player look for the pupinit.bat file?
Or in the case of launching via pinup popper, does pinup player look for the bat file as soon as I launch the game?
When I launch the game via FPLoader.exe in the BAM folder, it seems the former.
Is it the latter when launched via Pinup Popper? I assumed it was, so I tried adding roughly 60 seconds to the items in the bat file but no luck.
If it is possible to launch this table via Pinup Popper and still see the videos, please share your pupinit.bat details and/or a screen grab from the Pinup Pack Editor if adjustments were made.
Note I also tried setting Backglass2 and Topper2 to ForcePop with no luck.
TIA

April 9, 2020 at 5:36 pm #171549Unfortunately, I am getting a frame rate hit on this Tron table.
I just fixed this. Now getting 120 -130fps.
Originally I had all of my Future Pinball files on an external hard drive whereas my VPX files were on my C: (ssd). When I started working on the Tron pup pack, I copied all of my FP files to the C drive since the pup pack had to be placed in the following folder:
C:\PinUPSystem\PUPVideos
I forgot that I also had to add the new C drive version of the FP.exe to my list of nvidia programs to use the nvidia graphics processor.
Unfortunately, I still have issues with the videos not appearing when launching via pinup popper. I’ll look into the ingamescript feature next.
