While researching the 1933 Rock-Ola pinball machine “World’s Fair Jig-Saw” I started to notice something…peculiar. I was looking for the image used in the jigsaw puzzle part of the machine but kept finding “close but not quite” – I’m not talking the same wrong image over and over, I’m talking about different wrong images, over, and over… but they’re all the same. I can’t explain, please examine:
Here’s the image used on the pinball machine:
Now let’s examine the 4 (at least! I’m sure there’s more!) DIFFERENT paintings of, what I can only assume is, the SAME picture:
What??? I can tell they’re of the same picture because there are similar elements. The plane on the left over the water, the locations/clusters of sailboats, etc
Why? Fascinating.

June 21, 2016 at 9:39 pm #32106It looks like the one used for the puzzle pieces in the machine was a rougher rendition… like the artist was drawing the same thing, but maybe wasn’t very accurate.
