August 22, 2020 at 8:20 am in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #197393Small update: I have been working on the rules and trying to fit everything into the table. What a hassle. Getting stuck all the time and rearranging it constantly. And worst of all … the self doubt. Is this fun enough? …. or … maybe not? … end so on. Looking allot at other tables, tutorials and rulesets. But it’s a lot to consume. So in the mean while going over the Pup-pack HUD and it’s coming al long. Here is a rough first version. Tying to fit the full videoframe and still reserve space for call-outs, small video’s and other graphical stuff.

August 15, 2020 at 11:14 am in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #196024Ha @Mlager8, That’s great! I totaly forgot about the “useless box”-hand. The hand idea on my table started off as a 3d model as well, but I am worried the table is gonna be to polygon-heavy. So I was exploring solutions with textures on transparant film …. or things like that. I will check out the Theatre of Magic machanics, thx for the tip! The simplest alternative would be a big drop target (as a the wall with the eyes) with a kickerhole behind it … perhaps.

August 15, 2020 at 6:08 am in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #195980Hi All, I am struggling with a way to add a ball lock in my BTiLC project for this moment:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXsVG3dSnrw in the game. This is the mechanism I came up with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSlJYO2Jmdk But it take up a lot of space.
Does anybody know another mechanism (maybe some example table) that will have a smaller (Less deep) fit ?

I am working on the logic of some of my mechanics for the table.
And I am struggling with a way to add a ball lock for this moment: Video movie
This is the mechanism I came up with: Video Mechanic
It Kind of works IMO But it take up a lot of space. Does anybody know another mechanism (maybe some example table) that will have a smaller fit?

August 11, 2020 at 5:16 am in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #195015@theloafer So true! Great to see others that love the movie (and see it for what it is: a fun, over the top 80’s classic). This movie was begging to be a pinball table. The whole story structure, epic boss fights, magical elements, vivid color scheme, atmosphere and even Jack’s quotes are a perfect fit for a table with a rich PupPack, to teleport us back right back to the 8o’s for that nostalgic Ghostbusters/Back to the Future era. I mean listen to the OST and you are half way there.

August 11, 2020 at 5:06 am in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #195012Wow that’s great @Mlager8. I could use all the help I can get. It’s hard enough making a decent table on your own, let alone a good one. It takes all kinds of different skills and thus different people to make a great table. So all collaboration is welcome!
As a CD I have a strong vision and love to see the concept, storytelling, rhythm (story beats) and overall design/style through till the end. I can do simple motion graphics / UI / Creative Treatments myself. Setup the base of the table. And some 3d placeholders for testing out the gameplay.
But I guess I really could use help with coming up with a game logic/ruleset, table coding and productional tasks like: optimizing/shading 3d models, lighting and audio cleaning up (for the in game audio callouts).
@Mlager8 I made the “3d models” (low poly Main Ramp + Truck) in Cinema4d but can export to FBX or OBJ with MTL (or perhaps other formats). They could really use game optimization, texturing and normal maps. Which is something I have an idea on, but certainly not to good at.THX Jochem

August 10, 2020 at 5:32 pm in reply to: WIP: Big Trouble in Little China Original VPX + Pup Pack concept #194956Yeah I saw the plans for the remake. I like Dwayne, but nothing will beat the original IMO. I will try to do justice to it in building the table.
