This is awesome! Thanks for sharing these!!

I took a crack at a playfield draw with the current assets provided and was pretty happy with how it turned out.

I ended up redrawing that one missing section above the pop-bumpers.. the insert in particular is pretty low-fi, but it might be something we can cleanup later as a table is developed… and as 32a mentioned, it would be great if we could get that last piece to tie it all together at super high-resolution, but even the assets provided make for an amazing playfield that will look really nice in a high-res version of this table!  Thanks so much for sharing these with the vp community!

Thanks @Slydog43 – I wanted to carry over the exact description from the table I had modded.  Rothbauerw included that in the description for his table, so the comment was more of a quote. I might tweak that approach for future mods though so its not as confusing.  I included a link to his version where all the associated assets can be downloaded directly.  The reason I left them out of my mod was in case there have been newer / updated versions of those associated assets & because I hadn’t requested permission to include them from the original authors.

Xantari looped me in and sent some of the assets for those simpson’s playfield scans – the work that had already been completed & the quality on those scans was so epic that I wanted to take a crack at filling in the missing section.

I think the result turned out really nicely. There was only a very small section I had to “cheat” at (stopped progress after pasting a lower res image).  It is the “broken” part on the right side of the black and yellow roadblock.. but it will be covered by a slingshot anyhow, so we should be ok.

I’ll post a link on my site in the next update ( http://www.ebislit.com ) for easy access, but in the interim, here’s a link to the stitched scan & the psd:

            – let me know if I can help in any way on this one if you decide to update or if you’d like me to take a crack at further cleanup/work on the scan stitch.

Also, the iobium TSPP site links weren’t working, but the wayback machine has the whole set cached in case we ever need the original resources again.

@rascal – Thanks Rascal! Much appreciated for permission to mod. As you mentioned, we might not be able to get it much better considering the limited resources, but perhaps 32 and I can collaborate towards some little improvements here and there.

              – between this and the awesome LW3 tweaks you’ve mentioned on the VPForums, I would much rather take some extra time and work together on a joint effort then rush any releases out. I’m happy to help with anything you’re working on if you think I could add to the project(s). Let’s link up through PM.

Where did you get the hires plastics from @ebislit

Different “end result” assets, but probably from the same resources as others are using.. the various old pics on pinside, google, ebay, etc.  I think I just use a different approach to redrawing and retaining resolution when tweaking images (plastics, apron & playfield).  There’s still lots to do.. but attached are some side-by-side comparisons of plastics from this release vs some I have (that are still “in-progress”).  Also… this isn’t meant in any way to detract from Rascal’s release! He has completed a LOT of work that I had no idea how I would’ve even started on, I am just hoping some of my completed assets can also be utilized in getting closer to a really nice end result.

I have a different group of assets and was working on my own version utilizing the recently released LW3 table as a template. Its so cool seeing and playing this MJ table though and Rascal’s version has a lot of components completed that I was worried I wouldn’t know how to finish (upper playfield and those right plastics in particular).

Rascal – maybe we can sync up in the near future to coordinate an update? I can at least hand off some nice hi-res plastics and lower-half playfield assets, but I’d be more than happy to collaborate on a larger overhaul too.

Also.. Thanks for making this table! Its so crazy that this was ever able to find its way into the virtual world and onto our cabinets considering how rare it is.

This is awesome news! Thank you bord and DJRobX! I’ll link up with Rob through private messages and hopefully we’ll have an update out for the community ASAP.

Thanks Clark Kent for the offer – I’ve got a 4600 scanner and actually really enjoy the stitching part (photoshop nerd), so I went ahead with that part and already updated the table. It wasn’t nearly as sharp as I was hoping compared to other playfields I’ve done, but I think its still pretty nice (this particular playfield may get better results from well lit photographs.. I might try that in the future as well).

Amazing table! I was able to get hold of an xmen playfield and do a new scan / stitch / redraw.  Also identified and fixed a few bugs (storm switch wasn’t triggering.. fixed up a couple issues with the iceman & cyclops lights.. etc).

I am getting similar crashes to what others have posted despite what I think is a clean setup. I’m still trying to debug or even consistently replicate that, but I’m not sure how much progress I’ll end up making.

I reached out to HauntFreaks through this site about deploying my latest as an update to his table – but no luck on getting a reply just yet and from reading a few other threads realize he may not be as active in the community as he used to be. I may be jumping the gun seeing as its only been a couple days since I reached out, but [message to admins & OG table creators] do we have a commonly accepted respectful procedure regarding deploying mods/updates if the original author is MIA?  I’ll happily give props and credit where its all due.
