Stellar Airship, a conversion kit available  from Geiger for Bally’s Eight Ball consisting of a replacement playfield, plastics and backglass.  Only 200 were ever made and next to no resources left.  Thanks to Tab for his VP9 table and for the PF image.

Original layout from JPs Eight Ball with Thalamus’ SSF script, it got a new apron, plunger cover, plastics, bumper caps, spinner, new gates, Nfozzys physics, sounds, adjustments on layout, etc…

      Special thanks to:

David, @scottt aka Scotty VH for volunteering to redraw all the plastics.  The VP9 ones were not good and I only had 2 pics as resources, he did a great job hand drawing what didn’t exist, thanks

@Thalamus for his script, play testing and all of his expert advice

@Mlager8, Matt for his apron prim and image

@randr for creating a great place to have this hobby

@randr and I were talking during the upload, the table image was not wanting to load.  Had to do it after the fact.  The upload kept crashing

Oh I forgot to mention, I never got the dips to work to switch the chimes and sounds.  for those that want to test it out, press F6 and try and chage the chimes option.  no luck for me.  Hopefully we can figure it out soon.  Thanks @thalamus

These conversion kits are really interesting.  Love seeing the wildly different artwork some of these European tables were given.  Thanks for bringing these to life Tom!

Wow Tom.  Got this loaded up and dialed in earlier and..then spent the whole night with it.  Kept going back and forth with Eight Ball.  This is pretty crazy what you’ve done here.  I never play the Fonzie  vp version for more than a game or two.  And I grew up watching him!  ..and playing the original in game rooms.  Amazing what artwork can do.  Makes the game much more enjoyable.  But the game-play and sounds are also a big upgrade here.  Really love seeing these euro-interpretations.  Miss World is also a tad more fun to play than KISS.

                          Oh!  Chimes working here.

                          Thanks again to all involved!

Any idea where i could find a B2S for this table?

wasn’t able to find any out there…

@jfr1, when you changed the dip switch setting did it change the sound on the rom though.

it was also interesting to see that the different layout of the insert lights changes the table a bit too.  Geiger really did an interesting thing. Unfortunately it didn’t really last

It did not.  Just getting chimes from BG speakers, no change with the ‘melody’ option in F6.

Question: is ScreenSpace meant to be set to 125? Makes the ball look like it is emerging from the gates of Hades.

Edit: Good Lord that left outlane is a monster! I’m terrible at this.

ScreenSpace…Gates of Hades…outlane monsters. Curious stuff.  I used to carry around a small wrench so I could adjust levelers on tables that had inclinations I disagreed with.  Helps with nasty outlanes.  This table is for some reason taking up some of my time.  And oddly, now that it’s in my front-end, it’s side by side with bord’s Stingray and going back and forth I’m hearing similar chime sounds.  Liking these chime sounds.  Thanks again Tom.

@bord, no I didn’t catch that.  But I took it down to .2 and didn’t notice a difference.  What does that do

ScreenSpace is an algorithm that makes some decent guesses to simulate reflection and light bounce. You can turn it off globally in your video settings (which is probably what you did if you didn’t notice a difference). On some games it works well, on some it is distracting at best. I tend not to turn it up above .5 on games where it mostly works. It is a resource hog.

That was the beauty of the original it’s based on.  No one could play Eight Ball without looking at Fonzie and telling him to go F himself because of that Grand Canyon left outlane lol

the pic look great, I will have to give it a try!  Historically speaking, these Geiger real life re-themes have their place in pinball history and therefore in our collection.
