Finally…they are here! The new T-ARC themes for Pinup Popper!

Thanks to the flexibility of Pinup Popper, you now have MANY new options for T-ARC themes that combine the beautiful Tarcisio Caleiro wheel ARC, and Pinup Popper’s new Text Zones and 24 bit transparent loading video features!

      Features:

      – Options 1 and 2 for ARC and Text Layout

      – T-ARC images with 8 colours to choose from

      – T-ARC image options for “arrows”, “no arrows”, and “no text”

      – 24 bit Transparent Loading videos that can allow for a seamless transition from the Popper front-end to your game. Very cool! (depends on emulator fullscreen settings)

      – “Game Details” that will display all the Popper database information about your game when GameInfo is highlighted

      – Popper’s Text Zones feature allows you to display all text for menus the way YOU want. Choose your own fonts, colours, size, position, prefixes, database content, Custom Text… however and wherever you want!

      – display flyers above the T-ARC in correct aspect ratio in Popper and in-game!

      – T-ARC Themes have options to be used on the Playfield screen in Landscape and Portrait layouts or on the Backglass!

      – T-ARC on Playfield Options comes in both 4K and HD setups (for each layout type) complete with matching 4K ARC images and Transparent Loading Videos. T-ARC on Backglass only comes in HD option (1920×1080) with matching HD media.

      – includes original T-ARC project files. Make your own T-ARC images and your own Transparent Loading videos and make your friends jealous for having such a cool looking custom front-end like no other!

      Text Zones update:

Users can now customize their theme layout for text options in the PUPMenuScriptThemeOptions.txt file. This can be fonts, colours, size, position, prefixes, database content, max characters, Game Details, Custom Text and more… all displayed however and wherever you want! All info can found in this file and it details everything you need to know. Use the included Text Zones pictures for reference.

      Thanks:

HUGE thanks goes out to Tarcisio Caleiro for providing the fantastic original ARC and BAR images from which this theme was created from!

Also thanks goes out to Nailbuster for Pinup Popper, and for providing support for my 100’s of JavaScript questions for my Text Zones update.

I hope you enjoy these T-ARC and T-BAR Desktop themes. You can now to make Pinup Popper look the way YOU want. This theme is just a start…make it the way you like it!

      Enjoy!

      Requirements:

This theme requires Pinup Popper and Pinup Player installed and updated to 1.45 or higher.

      http://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=install_guide

      http://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=upgrade_v14

Before installing a new theme, you should consider:

      – backup pinupmenu pup-pack folder

      – backup PUPMenuScriptThemeOptions.txt

      – backup your DB file

      – backup any media you will be replacing that you don’t want to lose

      ============================================================

How to Install a Popper theme

Thanks to Nailbuster, there is a new easy way to install themes. This is now the recommended method!

      “Easy Theme Installer”

Goto this link at the PuP wiki, and follow the instructions there to both download and install a new Popper theme the easy way.

      https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=popper_themes

      ============================================================

      “Old Manual Theme Install Method”

This is the older “manual” way to setup and install a theme.

Please read to first post in this Support Thread to determine which theme zip package you need. You will make your choice based on:

      – Theme Options: 1 or 2

      – ARC displayed on Playfield (most setups), or ARC displayed on Backglass (HD backglass only)

      – Layout of your playfield screen: Landscape (most setups) or Portrait

      – 4K (3840×2160) or HD (1920×1080) resolution of your playfield screen

PLEASE only download ONE zip theme package as it’s all you need. Don’t download ALL zip files!

      Theme package zip contents:

Please follow the included install instructions (the text file) step by step, and also make sure your settings are correct compared to ALL of the included pictures. Do not skip anything! Don’t worry…it’s an easy install.

Please use 7zip to extract files to ensure none of them will get blocked by windows!

      Video Walk-through (manual method only!):

Most people seem to have no problems installing the new Themes…but for those who want a video walk-through (of the manual method)… here you go.

(It’s still better to use the new Easy Theme Installer!)

      ============================================================

      Important notes:

As of Popper 1.4, users will no longer make any changes to the PupMenuscript.pup file for their user options! That file will be used only for the main Popper script code and fallback options.

Now there are 3 new separate user files:

PuPMenuScriptSysLanguage.txt (for user custom text for Popper system functions. This can be edited for other languages or anything really)

PUPMenuScriptSysOptions.txt (for global options like enable DMD, enable DOF, enable / disable ALL text, and more)

PUPMenuScriptThemeOptions.txt (new version of this file included with this theme update. This file is where all the theme settings relating to Text Zones and Text settings are kept)

It took a long time for me to implement the new Text Zone feature (NB lost the last of his hair from my 100’s of Javascript questions) and also creating a standard that themes could use. Once THAT was done…we could separate config files and allow custom themes and user settings to be used. Then creating a new theme was MUCH easier and quick to do as they aren’t part of the main config or layout anymore. Creating the packages and media, etc for every setup and resolution took longer than making the themes!

What should I do as a 2K user?  The arc of the wheels don’t match the curve, but the text-zones are positioned perfectly. I tried changing the WheelArc-value but the curve is just wrong no matter the value.

Follow the instructions step by step….and look at EVERY picture and make your settings the same as in the pictures. You missed one.

In Game/Wheel Toolbar TAB…ALL settings need to match the included picture. You most likely missed the WheelARC setting.

Need more info than that. What exact resolution is your playfield…what layout are you using (landscape, portrait, ARC on PF?)

You would install the 4K theme first using all of it’s settings, then you need to adjust the “Margin in Pixels” setting (in Game/Wheel Toolbar TAB) to make your ARC line up correctly. This is different for each resolution.

…..BUT you also want to convert the ARC png images to match your playfield screen resolution “correctly”. This is important to get exactly right, so that Popper doesn’t need to scale your ARC image in realtime (as that would give poor performance).

Assuming your playfield screen is 2560×1440 (used in landscape) then you would want to convert the 1080×2160 ARC images to 720×1440 (i think).

The transparent loading videos can be used from 4K or HD…or you can convert them to what resolution matches your screen similar to the ARC images.

It’s always best to have all media and pup screens be pixel perfect to give the best performance. You can use 2k and 3K with the 4K theme…as long as your ARC media is converted to match your playfield screen’s resolution, and you adjust “margin in pixels”.

Use one of those and edit it to the resolution you need…BUT transparent videos need MAX quality…so you will also want to change crf to 2. If you don’t then you will get a lot of image compression and it won’t work well.

You missed some pictures in the instructions again. EVERY setting needs to match in ALL pictures. :)

If you have nvidia, install your driver with a fresh driver install (no previous settings), and use the settings for gpu shown in the 3 pictures with the theme zip. If you change anything else in relation to colour, RGB, gamma, etc it may not work.

If you have AMD….you will need to make similar settings.

Your system needs to be set to full RGB colour with Full Dynamic Range. Or VLC won’t work correctly with Transparency. Be suire your TV screen is allowing that to happen, and your GPU driver setting are all correct.

Uuuuuuh……EVERY theme comes with a layered PSD and XCF ARC file in the theme zip….as was mentioned in the Description TAB. :)
