Nine Ball (Stern 1980)

IMO in the top 3 of classic Stern tables.

I received a playfield scan from a generous Pinsider. The plastics are garbage, so sorry about that. If someone has access to better ones or wants to do a redraw I’d be very happy. @randr helped me with the spinner and rubber brackets late last year. Thanks, randr!

Looks great Bord!  If you don’t come up with some HQ plastic scans, I’d be willing to make an attempt at some vector work to sharpen and freshen them up.   Don’t want to waste my time though if good scans come through.  Let me know what you find!

@STAT, I see some strange stuff happen with the flippers and metal guides when layback is way up as in your POV file. A layback of 80 makes everything look odd, stretched necks on the bumpers, primitives running into each other. Tempering the layback, say to 40, gets rid of those issues.

I did tweak some of the metal guide placement for the next version. Hopefully that’ll help out what you’re seeing near the flippers.

This would still need more work (some stars and splashes are missing) but the right plastic in this image is close to what I would come up with for a plastics vector redraw.  You can import plastic10.png into the table to test.

Here’s the bottom two plastics, color matched to HauntFreaks playfield.  I’m not sure why the appear brighter… maybe due to the material used for the playfield vs. the plastics?

Yeah, probably the material difference since the plastics have some transparency. The plastic redraws look really great. Hope you keep going with the project.

I’ll be updating the table early next week with the color corrected playfield.

Working my way up the playfield.  The bottom four plastics are complete.  I could make the white a bit darker (gray) to make it less bright… thoughts?

Man, those look great! Can’t wait to add them to the next version.

Good call on the whites. Personally I would keep the RGB values between 230,230,230 and 240,240,240 since very few things are actually true white.
