Close encounters I bought mainly for the cabinet pieces, rails, legs etc as well as some of the playfield mechs. It was not a working machine. This will have a small computer running mission pinball framework (mpf) along with some controller/driver boards from open pinball project(opp). I’ll put some more info and links on the blog when I’m on a computer, on my phone at the moment. But basically I re-wrote Nobs in mpf which is designed to make custom pinball machines.

IÂ think most of the dof stuff is in there, but I haven’t checked it out or asked to have a blank config for it on the configtool. Â I have a version I’m modifying to match the “real” one as I make changes, so maybe when I get done with that I’ll get back to it. Â Didn’t have much time to work on it this week though.

So after being away on vacation for the end of June, July and early August (I’m a tech at an elementary school), I finally got back out in the shop to work on the real NOBS. Everything is wired up and most of it actually works! lol since I’m reusing a lot of old hardware I have some more cleaning and adjusting to do, and at some point I think I either fried a MOSFET or have a bad one, as one of the coils locks on as soon as power is turned on. Progress at last. Sorry for the glare in the video.

Lol yeah that is on the list isn’t it. I’ve been waiting on final artwork to do an update, but I’ll look at the dof this week and at least get the basics put in. Maybe even update to surround sound and an option to turn on a ball shadow.

Mostly done with the basic dof config (chimes!), will probably send to arngrim to flesh it out with flashy lights and such before uploading, but in the mean time spent a little time in the shop working on the servos for the real one, mainly a simple mock up of the roto target. Have the three servo’s hooked up and functioning. Still need to build and attach the mechs and calibrate them to the correct values, but progress.
