Beautiful table and loving the music.  I’m playing 1.1.vpx on a single monitor desktop. The ball freezes on me during play.  It’s random but can happen anywhere on the table.  Also, the scoring come up where the grill should be but the backglass and grill don’t come up.  That happens to me on some tables.  No matter what I do the backglass won’t come up.  Suggestions, please.  Thank you.

I’m pretty much new to all this so first of all, I want to thank you for all you did to explain installation, signing up and configuring a table for Orbital Scoreboard and editing the script.  I definitely leaned some new things. And everything worked perfectly on my desktop setup.  BEAUTIFUL !  Thank you!

Thank you all.  As you all suggested, I hadn’t installed any rom files, duh….but I’m learning.  Because I’m new, I thought I could see if I could get away without a rom file because I was using a PuP Pack. Since I didn’t get any rom error messages when it started up, and since I was getting sound from the videos, I thought I didn’t need a rom file.

Obviously, the rom files do more than utter a few sentences and sounds.  I’ve been through all the install/setup mega instructions more times than I care to count…..and I think I learn something new every time…..but, evidently I still don’t know exactly what all a rom file really does?

            Love this table

            Thank you

Does DE mean Data East?  Everything comes up beautifully.  Opening videos play, sound and music great.  Only probably is, I can’t get the balls to load?  So I was wondering if I was using the wrong table – Star Wars Data East 1992 v 1.5.1.vpx

That’s an excellent idea about writing it all down, flstclasic.  I appreciate your offer for further help with APO.  I think I’ll just relax and enjoy things working for now.  I WOULD be interested in knowing what sound system/speakers you are using though.

Again, I thank you and Thalamus for your willingness to help.  Hopefully this will help other people.

I think I found something about using Steam to map the buttons, Thalamus.  I have a wireless keyboard but I just don’t like the feel.  I’d rather have a cabinet and maybe I will in the future if I can find an easy way to get it in the states.  But, the learning part of it is fun and, obviously I have my hands full learning the desktop part.

lol…..I’ve downloaded it and will install tonight.  Thanks for the link.

Speaking of links, do you have anything for setting up xbox for windows controller for VPX/FP etc.?

You were right Thalamus.  It had to be something simple and it was although I still don’t have any idea what happened to cause the problem.  I was all around it, but didn’t go that last step until I was sitting here thinking about it while I was working and it came to me to search sound manager in Windows 10.  Here are the details in case it helps somebody else.

I changed the screen size so that I could see the desktop and the table.  I than ran the table.

Then in the search block at the bottom left of the screen of Windows 10, I searched for sound settings and found “App volume and device preferences.”   I saw that there was no activity coming through “Master volume” for Output on my speakers (there was when I ran other things like music, etc.)  Volume was set at 54 but I cranked it up higher but still now sound.  I went to the “Output” dropdown box and selected Speakers (SB Recon3D PCle).  I noted that there was very faint sound showing on the “Master volume” icon but I couldn’t hear anything so I changed it back to my wireless/bluetooth speakers.

I noticed that I could scroll down and there was another section that showed “App” “Volume”  It had System sounds, Remote Desktop sounds, Google Chrome sounds and then VPX DMD SOUNDS!  (keep in mind that this only showed up if you are playing a VPX table) All the other volume levels were set to 100. VPX DMD was set to zero.  I cranked that baby up to 100 and VIOLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Houston, we got SOUND !!!!  I tried it on several other tables with the same results (excuse my excitement.  I’ve been at this for a few weeks) and quite a few people have been trying to help me.  Thank you all !

Never mind.  I figured it out.

I changed the screen size so that I could see the desk top and ran the table.

Then in Windows 10 in the search block at  the bottom left of the screen, I searched for sound settings and found @App volume and device preferences.   I saw that there was no activity coming through “Master volume” for Output on my speakers.  Volume was set at 54 but I cranked it up higher but still now sound.  I went to the “Output” dropdown box and selected Speakers (SB Recon3D PCle).  I noted that there was very faint sound showing on the “Master volume” icon but I couldn’t hear anything so I changed it back to my wireless/bluetooth speakers.

I watched the suggested video and a few others, but I’m stuck.  When I get to the “Copy channels: ” part, I only have three green boxes L & R & a blank box.  Below that I have a pink L & R box, a blank box and a + box.  I don’t have the Low frequency (LFE) and other channels.

Am I supposed to add them or something?  I can fill in the blank box on top row and that’s it.  The bottom row  I can add all the boxes I want.

Until I have time to get to the video, let’s look at this another way.

I don’t have sound with VPX tables.

But when I add a PuP Pack to it, problem solved.

What is it that PuP Pack overrides when installed to a VPX table? Or what is it in PinUPSystem that makes it work?

I use YouTube all the time.  I’m smacking my forehead. duhhhhhhh  I’ll Definitely watch that.  You know, back in the old days when home computers first came out, there wasn’t anything I could do with a computer.   I even built and sold them, but it’s past me by, that’s for sure.  I’ll/we’ll get there.  Again, thanks for your help

That’s what’s driving me crazy !  I would think that it’s something simple too.  Doesn’t make sense.

Yes, I tried all the different sound devices listed inside VP.

If I ever decipher flstclasic’s screen shot, I’ll give that a try.  I open the configuration editor and only see L & R as a choice.

Not ALL vpx tables, Thalamus.  VPX tables running with a pup pack are working just fine.

I tried your link and that didn’t work.  I deleted from the registry also deleted the table, backglass, rom, nvram, cfg files in VPinMame.

I appreciate your alls help.  Thank you.

Add to what I do have sound for is VPX tables with pup packs.  Tested Avengers and Pirates of the Caribbean so far and they work beautifully.

As I said before, Thalamus, I did download and installed and went through the tutorial.  I didn’t understand it.

flstclasic, thank you for the screenshot.  I kind of understand what I’m looking at, but I have no idea how to get there and to get a screen that looks like that.  Would you please guide me along a little bit.

My choices under Equalizer APO 1.2.1 are:

Benchmark – Configuration Editor (that seemed like a good place to start but I soon got bogged down in technical jargon that made no sense to me) – Configuration reference (online) – Configuration – and uninstall.

Oh come on !  Can’t I be greedy and want it all? lol

Knowing what you can’t do is as important as knowing what you can’t do.  You’ve given me both and I indeed appreciate that, Terry!  Thank you so much !

Now how would you like to tackle a no sound issue with VPX tables even though I’m not having any problems  with any of the other VP or FP versions?
