June 10, 2019 at 10:58 pm #131671I thought this would be a good place to share this…. inspired by some of those recent releases, and at least one upcoming table, along with a conversation with @bord, I will soon embark on a 1st (at least I haven’t seen it before, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone had already done it) in vp pincab accessories. While others are going all out on led lighting and dmds and such, I’m taking the star wars wedgehead back in time…
yes folks I’m adding a ball lift mechanism to my pincab. this particular one is from a late 40s Bally woodrail (don’t know which one exactly), and looks damn cool, and will be even cooler once I polish it up. the plunger knob is really not any bigger than the gottlieb one on the cab, it just looks that way due to the angle of the photo. I don’t have any of the internal mechs and will probably just rig something up, but after a suggestion from @bord again it will actually be lifting a pinball, either welded/glued/threaded on to the mech to give it heft and a ‘real’ feel. I probably won’t get around to this until the fall however as I’m taking most of the summer off to travel.
back to your regularly scheduled thread.

June 10, 2019 at 11:08 pm #131674Gotta be the coolest cab addition since chimes! Seems like something @scottacus might be interested in. I know I’ll be shopping for one.
Now we just need to build more pre-1966 EMs so you have some motivation to get it working.

June 11, 2019 at 6:29 am #131695@borgdog I thought about adding one but my buy in button is right in that spot and works fine for ball lift but you could use actual lift for a buy in button instead… very cool and will look great on your style cab for sure!

June 11, 2019 at 8:59 am #131701BTW, if you’re at work don’t search ebay for “pinball ball lifter.”

ebay, $25 I think I got lucky.
I have an ebay search set to notify me of “gottlieb chime” results. usually its a rebuild kit or a coil, the last few full mechs have been like this one…
$150+shipping I think I’ve bought 5 of them so far and the most I paid was like $70 shipped.

June 12, 2019 at 12:39 am #131754Never heard of such a thing, but at $3.75 plus shipping that’s almost as cheap as stuffing a sock down my pants. Good to know.Â

June 12, 2019 at 2:01 am #131759Funny you should bring the ball lift up, I have the exact same one on my cabinet .  It’s from a 1946 Bally victory special.  I cut the ball lift rod off and put the speaker controller board on the inside of the cab and the lower knob is my volume adjustment
