      Hi,

Some changes and new options for VPXspy :

      UI has changed

Image browsing :  click the ‘img’ button to open a new window for browsing through the images* in the vpx file.
Yes, you can do this in VP as well, but VPXspy adds:

      • saving all images at once to a directory
      • start a slideshow with the images (auto play)
      • show images in their original format

      spy121-img

      spy121-imgbig

*currently only jpg and png format supported

Looks great, I used to have this table so eager to play digital version.
However – the start button/keyb button 1 does nothing. Coin button produces a boing sound, but no credits are added.

          I tried
          deleting nvram
pressing the ‘3’ key for coins
          waiting for 1 minute
          adding a line in the script : If keycode=AddCreditKey then vpmTimer.pulseSW (swCoin1)
setting to freeplay (entered value ‘1’) – doesn’t work

          nothing works..
          apparently I’m missing something ..
          HELP

Jalei, never had this problem – how much tables do you have ;-)
I have 130 but most people probably have much more..

I used to have this game and really liked it (but due to space issues, it had to go), so I was happy to find it here.

Game looks great and plays well, so thanks for that – but.. it’s too easy.. balls almost never drain in the outlanes and I’m able to prevent almost all balls going away between the flippers.
So that’s a pity as a game should be somewhat challenging  – without having to adjust all kinds of settings. After half an hour playing, I just let the balls go..

But I guess I should complain to original author (JP salas) to that ;-)

Anyway – still a welcome addition to my collection !

                  thanks for quick reply,

I’m using the core.vbs from latest VP beta (made sure by renaming it and waiting for VP to complain about missing it)
But table is working with the useSolenoids=1 setting..

Very cool table indeed – especially the physics – the table feels so much more realistic (this from a ex-AFM owner).  I think this sets a new standard for all other tables..
The ‘visuals cycling option’ is awesome as well !

I love it when you hit the targets next to the motor bank and see them wiggle a bit :-)

After all the positive reviews I was very anxious to test this table but had a problem with flippers being stuck after 1 flip !
I found out that I had to change useSolenoids=2 to useSolenoids=1 in the script – not really sure why or how this is supposed to work but it does :-)

And yes, the rolling ball sound is way to loud – I used a division by 20 to reduce it. Same thing for the bumper sounds (also very loud).

thanks a lot for this great table

                      Hi,

                      Great table !
At 1st I was a bit disappointed – it just didn’t play very well, until I found out I did not have the latest ROM/table versions – now that I have those all the LE features work and it rocks !

PS my system (i3 8100 quad core/GTX 750) has only 4GB, but I’ve never had any problems –  I disabled everything in Windows I don’t need..

                      Thanks !

This could be interesting : https://github.com/tomlogic/pinmame-nvram-maps

tested it and it works nicely – unfortunately there aren’t that many maps for games.. also it reads the nvram (doesn’t write to it)
contacted the author – let’s see where that leads to

                        sample output :

                        \VPinMAME\nvram>python nvram_parser.py maps/afm_113.nv.json afm_113.nv

                          Hi,

yes, I’m talking about the Game settings like free play, nr of extra balls, high score boost & reset count etc.
These are not stored in the registry but in nvram somehow.
VPtools now just simulates a nr of button presses to get to and adjust these settings. A bit crude – but it works (at least when I test).

I think it would be really cool if that could be fully automated and settings get copied to other games.. maybe it’s possible to write directly to nvram ?

                            Hi,
I wonder if anyone tested the ‘Free Play’ button in the tool ?

Don’t know about you guys, but every time I use a new game, I have to change like 10 settings of the game, so I thought having a way to automate that as well, would be very convenient.
But maybe there’s a better way – just would like to know if this is something I should pursue..

update : you can now select roms via checkboxes, which gives you more control over which roms to save to
use the small red button to uncheck all and then make a selection – ‘Save All’ will use that selection
(the button toggles between Uncheck and Check)

Hi Guys (no girls I assume) – yet another update (0.4.4) ..

This one has a pretty cool feature IMHO – a button to set Free Play to “Yes” (assuming it is set to “No”)
Works only for WPC games (you need to check the WPC checkBox and start the ROM to see this button and also the coin door buttons).

If this will test OK, much more can be added of course (nr of balls, extra balls, etc etc)  and then do that for all ROMs – or does something like this exist already ?

                                check it out here

Thanks again for feedback,  0.4.3 update :

at91jit setting  (never heard of it, but after Googling I now know what this does ;-)
now also save ext DMD to all Roms :-/
coin door buttons only work for WPC roms for now..  (will have to do some research and/or enable keyboard buttons for Non WPC games)
                                    added some tooltips

Not sure how you tested,  you need to start the ROM from the VPtools – it cannot modify an already running ROM started by another program (like VP) because that’s a separate instance of VPM.

In any case, if you just use VPtools and start a (working) WPC Rom and then click the green ‘Enter’ key, it should start the WPC menu and you can then use the other buttons just like you would in the real thing. Haven’t tested with non-WPC tables yet..

                                      @Drybonz
                                      – thanks for the suggestion – but how to decide which tables should have a DMD ? I mean – although an alphanumeric display technically is not a DMD, you may want to show it anyway (like if you don’t have backglass for it).
For VPtools , ‘DMD’ is maybe not the right word, ‘Display’ would be better..

Just put up a page for the tool at http://tinypin.nl/VPtools

Here you can download updates and see a change log.

BTW : I added a new feature : ‘cabinet buttons’ – so once you start a ROM, you can use these to manipulate settings (like the 7,8,9,0 keys in VP).
