      Will do Dan.

Wont be scanning the PF. But I will have you some nice pics of it. And of course the plastics will be scanned. I will get you those sometime and the measurements next week.  Understand no timeline.  :)

I currently have a POTC that I am working on, and I have the ramp off to reveal lots of things underneath. Do you want any pics of this table while its apart? Looks like you could use a better pic of the compass. Let me know quick before it goes back together.

Thanks for the reply @bord. However I am not sure that answered my question. So I test deleted playfield_mesh, and playfield_holes, and the table still played. I was expecting the ball to fall into the abyss, but it did not. The ball still played.

So I am still wondering what collidable surface the ball is still rolling on. I dont think it can be playfield_mesh. Because I test deleted it.

            Hope that makes sense.

32 many thanks for this table. I love to see a new VP10 table that can replace an old VP9 table. Looks terrific.

One question. I am trying to find your “collidable” playfield surface. It appear that it should be the primitive “playfield_mesh”, but I dont think it is because if I delete that object, the ball still appears to play as it should.  SO what is the actual object that makes up the collidable playfield surface?

Thanks again for this awesome table. :)

                  Oh no…no apparent DOF.

Do we need a table config in the DOF tool?

Damn, those look nice. I figured out your clear ramp mod for Space Shuttle. Bring on these bumper caps! ..speaking of that clear ramp mod, that would have been perfect for the Top Gun ramps. Especially the new dead-end extension. Hm.

                        Yup.

The table is now sitting at zero- units high. rather than being jacked up 200 units to allow the lower playfield to work. It allows for reflections now as well as some other visual benefits. Also has a 4K playfield image, and some minor physics changes. And of course, tone of nickle-dime fixes. As soon as I add the new bumper caps, it should be done.

Its been a few weeks since i could do much with it. But i hit it pretty hard the last couple days. CP is starting the prims and all table objects and ramps are correctly scaled. It is really coming along nicely.

Sorry I have not been able to chime in a lot on this one. Just been busy as Hell with real pins. I am very thankful for Roth for beating this horse some more. :)

                                      Roth,

If you want to take my latest release FH and dial your flipper physics in, I can do a side by side comparison to my real FH.  Any chance you found a way to hack more friction into the flipper?

Sorry for the long delay. I ditched that card long ago since it just did not have enough horsepower. I am now running a 970GTX IIRC.

                                          Friction.

Imagine a ball rolling down a metal ramp. It rolls fast.

Now imagine that same ramp is coated with rubber. The ball is going to roll slower.

I actually did a test on one of my real pins where I used a rubber on the bat, and no rubber on the bat. The intent of no rubber was to simulate a surface that is much harder and therefore faster, than with a rubber. Backhand shots were better with the rubber. And without the rubber, they were wider. I think this has to do with the rubber surface keeping a strong grip on the ball as the bat moves to hit it.

I also tested the ball rolling down the flipper lane and climbing the flipper, then returning to the trap point. With the rubber, the ball was slowed more noticeably with the rubber, compared to without.

I think in VP world, I suspect that the flipper is more on the “harder & faster”  side rather then the “rubber & slower” side, even with a friction setting of 1. I’m aware that the friction can be set higher than 1, but I dont think it has any effect beyond a setting of 1. Maybe if we could get more friction into the flipper, the roll down the lane would be more realistic when the ball climbs the flipper, and the backhand shots would be more accurate. I would love to test this somehow.

…to add to my last comment. When I do a successful post pass from left to right. As the ball rolls into the “trap point” and up the flipper. It rolls up the flipper is if its made of diamond meaning that it rolls too fast and smooth, rather than the way it roll if there was a rubber band there.

Once again I really think one of the missing links is not enough “allowable” friction for the flippers.
