On a three screen setup, what’s supposed to be in the lower left box? I’ve just got a black box (like the video above). What am I missing?
Edit: Never mind, I was using the 2 screen bat file. Doh!

I like the theme, love the audio, and the 3d models are great!
I feel like the playfield is way too long and empty though. Maybe move the pop bumpers down and enlarge that area so there’s some more space for the ball to bounce around? And maybe tweak the alignment/position of the top flipper. I may be missing something, but I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to shoot for with it. It would feel awesome to be able to nail the right ramp on that flipper as a skill shot just after ball launch. Doubly awesome if you could also nail some of the drop targets from around the pop bumpers with that flipper too.
Cool table!

March 17, 2021 at 11:12 am in reply to: How to Add Shaker DOF Effect via Impactor to an SSF/Thump Setup #229655Ah! Yes, that is possible. In your cabinet.xml file, you’ll see something like “shaker impact” and a setting of 100. Try changing this to 200 or higher and use the DOF test table to see if you like it. I think I have mine set to 350 for the issues you cite.
Thanks. That at least inspired me to try a few new things that seem to be helping. Oddly, upping the shaker impact made things worse on my system. 90-100 seems to be my sweet spot.
While testing things out, this time I noticed I had a bass boost applied to my exciters via the graphic eq in PeaceUI. EQ Boost + Impactor + Thump was just too much. And it was causing Thump to distort at all but the lowest settings. So I flattened that EQ out and was able turn Thump up a bit and things seem a little more balanced now.
90-100 still seems to be the sweet spot on the shaker impact setting for me. Higher than that and it doesn’t sound like a shaker motor, just a sort of buzzing.
I think I might try moving my bass shaker from the middle of the floor of the cab to the front wall to enhance the shaker motor effect while maybe being able to turn everything else down. I’m a little worried that will have a negative effect on the position of the sounds coming from the side exciters, but it’s an easy enough thing to try out and undo if I don’t like it.
Thanks for all your help.

March 17, 2021 at 7:16 am in reply to: How to Add Shaker DOF Effect via Impactor to an SSF/Thump Setup #229642@topper-2k what did you put in your dofconfig settings? Do you have entries for everything, or just shaker?
Just the shaker.
I think the primary issue is that I need to turn the volume of the shaker “motor” up and the volume of the bass shaker (for table sounds) down. Is there a way to control the shaker motor volume in the DOF config tool? Real shaker motors don’t have such a thing as volume, so I’m really sure whether that’s possible.

The grille made for the 2 screen version is missing from the .zip file. Here it is: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZDL3ZcTD-_eaz3ZppKWI2MYsG25l_WMH?usp=sharing
Thanks. I don’t have any experience with 2 screen PUP packs and I appreciate you doing this. I just need to add the grill png you provided to the Pup download file?

March 14, 2021 at 3:53 pm in reply to: How to Add Shaker DOF Effect via Impactor to an SSF/Thump Setup #229355Cool. Thanks for this. I’ve got my bass shaker installed and triggering when the DOF command fires off a shaker motor.
But the bass shaker is triggering for other, non-DOF stuff to, like pop bumpers. It feels weird. To get a good shaker motor effect, I need to turn the bass shaker up pretty loud. But then it’s like my pop bumpers are vibrating the whole cab.
Is something off in my config, or is that normal?

March 12, 2021 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Welcome to the new SSF (Surround Sound Feedback) forum. #228941Hey all! I could use some advice/help modifying the usual PeaceUI commands for sub sharing. I’ve currently got a pretty typical setup with a 2.1 amp for backglass. There’s a sub on that amp which is shared with table sounds using the typical recommended commands.
Now I’m adding a bass shaker, primarily to use SSF Impactor to simulate a shaker motor. I’m wondering whether I should change the commands?
The new setup will look like this (a diagram is attached):
Backglass: 2.1 w/ subwoofer
Side: 2.1 w/ bass shaker
Rear: stereoIt seems like the usual PeaceUI commands wouldn’t be ideal anymore. As I understand it, the commands copy the <= 150Hz frequencies of the table sounds into the backglass so they can be routed to the .1 channel and come out the sub.
Here are the commands I’m talking about.
Stage: pre-mix
Copy: SUB=0.25*RL+0.25*RR+0.25*SL+0.25*SR
Channel: SUB
Filter 0: ON LP Fc 150 HzStage: post-mix
Copy: L=0.50*L+SUB
Copy: R=0.50*R+SUBIn my new setup, it seems like what I’d want to do is copy the low fq from the rear channels and mix them into the side channels. Does that seem right?
If so, would the following PeaceUI commands achieve that?
Stage: pre-mix
Copy: SUB=0.5*RL+0.5*RR
Channel: SUB
Filter 0: ON LP Fc 150 HzStage: post-mix
Copy: SL=0.50*SL+SUB
Copy: SR=0.50*SR+SUBAttachments:

Well, I’m hesitant to call this “solved” but the problem seems to have gone away.
On my normal desktop PC, I downloaded three tables I was having this problem with to verify that the tables weren’t the issue. At least one of them wouldn’t load. My home PC isn’t super powerful, so I set the FP video settings to the defaults for “low performance.” Then I was able to run all three tables. I went to my cabinet, did the same, and was able to run all three tables there as well.
So issue solved? Not quite. I bumped my FP video settings on my cabinet back up to where they were before and am still able to run the tables. So I have no idea what actually fixed the issue. I remain stumped. I don’t like magic fixes, because if I don’t know what was wrong, I won’t know how to fix it the next time something similar happens. But I am glad I’m able to play the tables.

March 7, 2021 at 3:27 pm in reply to: Welcome to the new SSF (Surround Sound Feedback) forum. #228133So to make sure I understand correctly, I use the rear, side, and front jacks, and nothing will be plugged into the center/subwoofer jack?
Edit: Nevermind, I discovered the cause of my confusion, one of my amps is junk.
Can’t say about your amp, but you are correct. Front goes to backbox, side goes to rear of the cab (far from you), rear goes to the front of the cab (close to you).

Will SSF Impactor work in a setup where there is a subwoofer that’s shared between table and backglass? I’m mostly interested in using Impactor to replicate a shaker motor.
I’m using what I think is usually referred to as “the Rob method” for sharing my sub (https://vpinball.com/forums/topic/welcome-to-the-new-ssf-surround-sound-feedback-forum-2/page/2/#post-95768). It uses some commands in PeaceUI to copy the low frequency sounds from the rear and side channels and put them into the .1 output of the backglass amplifier.
So in my setup, I’d have:
- 2.1 amp driving backglass and subwoofer
- 2.0 amp driving front exciters
- 2.1 amp driving rear exciters and a bass shaker
I guess I’m worried that the commands in PeaceUI would take part of the signal that’s meant to trigger the bass shaker via SSF Impactor and send them through the subwoofer. And I’m not entirely sure what that would do.
Any advice you can provide would be appreciated. Would I need to stop sharing my subwoofer if I use SSF Impactor?

Looks like a fun table. My DMD (LCD using Freezy) is sort of scrambled. Anyone else seeing that? I can’t see my score :(

OK, I feel a little dumb, but maybe not too dumb because I at least figured out what I was doing wrong.
The issue was with how I was downloading files from GitHub. Somehow I was ending up with the html for the entire page, not just the .js script.

This table still kicks my ass, but it looks GREAT while doing it.

Hi and welcome! First off, I wouldn’t call a 32″ a mini. That’s a solid 3/4 size pin, don’t sell yourself short ;)
You’re asking about the backbox speakers? Car stereo speakers work well for that. You’ll also find small speakers labeled as “arcade” speakers that do the job. But you can do it just about any way you want. I’ve seen build threads where they used a 2.1 setup from a PC.
For mine, I used 3″ full range speakers for the backbox that I got on ebay. For my exciters I went with Dayton Audio DAEX25s. I paired those with a rehabed subwoofer. It was originally part of a PC or small home theater setup. It was powered but the amp had died. I ripped the amp out and made it a passive sub.

I documented my build pretty thoroughly. Here’s the build thread if it’s helpful.

And here are loads of pics, many of which didn’t make it into the build thread.

I put SSF on a bartop cab with a 20″ playfield. I just used two exciters and merged the front/rear channels. It’s fantastic. I wouldn’t build a virtual pin of any size without SSF.

To delete a table, you need to delete the actual table file from your tables folder and delete the game details from PinballY. Close PBY and reopen and the table will be gone.

This is fantastic! Many thanks. I’ve been wishing for something like the instruction card script for a long time and now that I found this, I can’t wait to try it out.
One filter that I’d find really useful (if someone has the time and ability to build it) would be one that filters on table type (em, ss, me). That’s a required field when setting up tables and I’ve always been surprised there was no way to filter on that.
Along the same line, a way to add additional table types would be really awesome. I mean, how do we classify Pinball FX3 tables? Or tables that never existed in real life? They aren’t really solid state, or electromechanical. Having an option like digital or virtual or something like that for tables that aren’t based on anything that ever existed in the real world would be nice.

Try the script that I have on github. It has a few tweaks, also, it might very well be that you want to change cNameController on line 56 to a 3.
Your script did the trick! Many thanks.
