Amazing job as usual. Really had a blast playing this last night. I followed the Single screen PupPack instructions exactly, including the specific instructions for HPGOF, and things went smoothly. A couple of things that I noticed:
- DMD looks washed out in VR but not on screen – I understand this is a known issue w/ the VR Pup implementation but wanted to mention it in case others notice
- I couldn’t get the mini game to show up in VR. In fact, I took off the headset and didn’t see it on my monitor either, so I’m guessing it is a Pup setup issue. Any ideas what Pup window this is supposed to display on?
Thanks again Toby!

I’ve fixed the table and updated it to v1.1. This should work the same in either mode now Rajo Joey.
As a small bonus, I’ve swapped out the launch button with a gun launcher – looks much nicer. Enjoy!

It seems that “Always use FS Backdrop Settings” is an option that people use when they share a cabinet for VR and non-VR. I’ll need to test with that option and make script adjustments to deal with it.
For now that is what you’ll need to do, but I will fix this table and upload when I get a chance. You may run into this problem from time to time, like you did with South Park. This is not a normal setting for people that have VR-only systems.

I would suggest making a post on the VR Pinball Facebook group – perhaps somebody else has run into this. Are your VR settings all default? Perhaps post a screenshot of what they are (mine is attached). In particular I’m curious what you have set for the scaling parameters in the Table Setup area. I have “Scale table to width” unchecked and “Scaling” set to 1.0.

That is really odd – I’ve never seen anything like that before, and nobody has reported that either. What headset are you using and do you have the latest VPX version? This is the most recent experimental version that Rawnei posted a few days ago:
Are you seeing anything strange on other tables?
You could also try the original VPX table that this room is based on and see if you see anything strange there, like the side panels being stretched as you have in your picture.

Thank you TinyBlackDog, Sixtoe, Flupper and especially Knorr! Love this one. Plays and looks great in minimal room.
Thanks, Ben. This is a really fun table that I’m not sure I’ve ever played in real life – maybe once at a pinball show. The Bowen Kerens tutorial video turned me on to playing it in VPX and in VR it really shines. That feed out of the pops is evil.

I’m going to be trying a couple of these out hopefully this weekend. Do you have a template (e.g. PSD) for generating the cabinet and backbox artwork images? It seems like they need to be setup pretty exactly to wrap properly. Thanks!

June 8, 2020 at 10:52 am in reply to: Future Pinball and BAM Mega-Guide by TerryRed (DOF, PUP, SSF, VR and Front-Ends) #184959I’ve used this guide to setup everything and I attempted to run the Indiana Jones (Stern) Ultimate Pro table.
I found I had to run FPLoader.exe as Administrator to get it to load the vbs script contained with the table. If I did not run it that way, I would get a Meditation error Variable not defined for line 520 which ultimately tried to load the script.
Did you by any chance put the “Future Pinball” folder at the root of one of your drives (like your C drive)? This can cause permission issues when you are running executables from within there, and I ran into this same problem myself.
After I moved it to C:\Games\Future Pinball, everything worked fine without running as administrator.
This may not be your specific problem, but something to try just in case.

I look forward to trying this out on a couple of rooms that were causing me issues with other cabinet models. I also hope you plan to eventually tackle a System 11 cabinet – that would be REALLY useful, as many of my favorites are from that era.
Thanks again for the hard work!

June 8, 2020 at 6:55 am in reply to: Future Pinball and BAM Mega-Guide by TerryRed (DOF, PUP, SSF, VR and Front-Ends) #184932Hi Terry, you finally convinced me to install FP and BAM for my VR-only system. Your guide was very straightforward and helped me get everything up and running very quickly. It was late last night so I was only able to try a couple of tables, but was pretty blown away by the quality of both Aliens Legacy and Indiana Jones in VR. Thank you!
Two questions/issues:
- Is it possible to map the BAM Home key to a joystick button? The top of my PinSim has a 4-way joystick and 6 buttons that map to joystick button 1-6. I use one of these in VPX-VR to reset my view – I’d like to do the same w/ BAM-VR.
- Indiana Jones table looked a bit strange in VR. The angle of the table looked completely off – like it was almost flat to the floor. Resetting the view with the Home key (F12) didn’t change the angle at all. Any ideas what might be wrong here?
Looking forward to playing with this some more this evening, and eventually getting DOF/SSF working, as well as PUP and PinEvent.
Thanks for being such a cheerleader for FP.

thank you @tinyblackdog
I wish I could play that table..but the performance of this one is very bad for me. How can I remove/delete vr room objects?
Edit: and thank you @benlogan2 for explanation
If you open the “script” window, look for the section near the top that has a number of options that are set to 0 or 1. You can try going through all those options and set them to 0 and see if that improves things for you. You could also try the original Thalamus table that this is based on (posted here on vpinball within past week or two) and try running that in VR to compare. My work was mainly taking that table and putting the room around it (based on senseless’ template).
Good luck!

Hi TinyBlackDog,
i love the room, by the way i’m having difficulties to have fun with this table, the ball continuously goes to the sides, expecially the right one, it looks that some pins are not placed where they should (comparing with the background image and also with the Bigus mod version where i’m actually having more fun), as you carefully taken behaviours from a real table, are you sure that the sides are correct? Bigus mod pins are higher than the background, yours are lower and looks decentered compared with surrounding stuff (on the right side is clearly visible)
NOTE: for some unknown reasons the table was crashing on launch, i had to manuallly delete room stuff (the ones that you can hide basically, no problems for me as i was going to hide everything anyway), never happaned this on any other table tbh, and i have all vr released tables and other 70+ tables that i’m fixing by myself
thanks
Have you tried the Thalamus table that this room is based on? It was posted here on vpinball recently (within the past week or two). My room has hardly any modifications to the table itself – just a couple of GI shadows were fixed. I would suggest downloading that table and see if you are having the same issues. If so, it is just how this table was created – with a focus on accuracy.
In my opinion, this version is much more realistic than the Bigus one. Dracula is brutal and unforgiving, which is why it is considered such a great tournament machine.

The directb2s support is fairly new, and was introduced within the past week by Rob. In fact, he just posted a new version of his modified VPVR today, which includes performance improvements and an implementation of MSAA by Rawnei, one of the original VPVR developers.
The original dev of VPVR, Caligula, has been extremely busy and hasn’t been able to keep the official build up to date. That is why Rob has been releasing these ad hoc with Google Drive links in the Facebook group.
Here is the link to the version released today. I’ll ping him to make sure he is okay with me posting this here, so grab it quickly or it might disappear.

I personally hate Facebook, but it is worthwhile for the VP content, which is all I use it for.

I apologize in advance for the gushing praise that is about to follow…
I just finished my pinsim build recently and owned an AFM for 20 years – just sold it last December. I am intimately familiar with what a real AFM plays like.
Last night I spent two hours playing this AMAZING VR room and I have to tell you it was 95% like playing the real machine. G5K, djrobx and team seriously nailed the realism on this table. So many little aspects like how the ball behaves in the area under the saucer, the way the ramps and flippers feel. Absolutely life-like. The only knock I would give it is more VPX VR related in that the lighting isn’t quite right (inserts and strobe in particular). I know this is all going to improve in future iterations. Hats off to the creators of an amazing table.
SSF made the experience even better. The shake of the saucer and the jumping martians really felt so realistic.
Rawd: You outdid yourself on the room. Love the atmosphere and attention to detail.
This is the first time since I’ve discovered VPX, and more recently VPX VR, that I’ve felt that virtual pinball can actually be as good as the real thing. Given the limitations of current VR headsets and the VPX engine we are using, that is amazing. I’m so excited for what is to come!

Stunning table. If anybody had any doubt that VPVR was the future, this table answers that. Just wow!

FYI files don’t seem to be downloading at all for me today. I’m one that has had very slow downloads the past month or so.
Perhaps a side effect of the server transfer, since these are both very recently added files.

Adrian, I spent almost all day yesterday playing this game in VR. It is absolutely STUNNING – words cannot describe how real it looks and plays in VR. I’m a complete newb with the VPX editor but I wish I knew how you were able to make your lighting look so realistic. For example around the slings – so many tables have harsh shadows thrown by the posts, but yours looks so realistic. Just blown away.
It is so much fun that I’m going to create a VR Room for it, with working back glass w/ LED displays. Still trying to find some decent cabinet art scans. Will reach out to you for approval to release it here once it is done. We are sorely lacking in EM/SS VR Rooms. And if you haven’t tried pinball in VR yet you really should – it makes the experience so much better.

Well, I figured it out. Stupid hidden extensions on Windows, so my files were named tna#.mp3.mp3. I absolutely HATE that feature, and must have forgotten to turn it off on this PC. Oh well, several hours wasted messing around with dlls…
