Sounds like you have file matching enabled in pinballx. Disable that

I haven’t added this table to PinballX yet.  Directly launching from VPX (I always get all the glitches out before I add to PinballX)

@jaa3rd You should always keep the *.directb2s file-name exactly like the table name. Right click the *.vpx file – go to properties – mark and copy the name that is the top of the properties field. Mark now the *.directb2s file you want to use for the table. Right click and choose rename in the drop-down menu. Hit shift+insert, go to end of the marked text, now, press backspace 4 times and enter. Your done.

Yep, all my .direct2bs files are always named the same as my .vpx files. Anytime I setup a table, I copy and paste to make sure they agree.  I didn’t think it would work otherwise.  This is the first issue I’ve had with the wrong backglass image loading. I have redownloaded the STTNG backglass, verified the .vpx and .directb2s are named the same, and it will still load the first of my 3 star trek table images.  If I remove my .direct2bs files for StarTrek Stern and StarTrek 25th, it will load the remaining STTNG backglass.

Updating Vpinmame to 2.8b did the trick.  Thanks for the tip.

This is my first run on VPX 10.2, is there an issue with db2s images?  B2s server  seems to be loading the first StarTrek back glass available in alphabetical order, so it’s launching with the wrong back glass..first was Stern Star Trek, then moved it out of the tables folder, and it loaded Star Trek 25th anniversary.

Edit – Updated to 1.3.0.2 and still have the same result….what am I missing?

            Still no luck here.

            • VPX 10.2 – latest stable from this site.  (no beta, maybe should try?)
            • Vpinmame last updated in Nov for use with Fren’s Star Trek LE
            • Just tried Randr’s nvram – same result with endless ball locating issue
            • Using L7 rom, and never had any issues with vp9 version
            • Table at default options.

During ball location/loading, ball launches up spiral ramp, but never locks in right side of borg ship – Just goes under Cardashian target and into Command Decision target. Rinse/repeat.

I could a couple somewhat playable sessions, by F3’n during ball location loop, but with glitches.

Borg Multiball – guns would not load, and only one ball was deployed.

Launch menu, right flipper launches ball (doesn’t cycle through options)

Looks incredible, can’t wait to iron this out.  Possible vpinmame issue? If so, which version should I use?

I have the same problem as someone before, the table starts and keeps giving one ball, then it kicks out in the left wireform and drains. Most of the times (after restart) the first ball will not be drained. If I reset with F3 the balls stop coming but then I have the problem that it wants to locate balls. After NVRAM delete the same starts all over. Sometimes when I press start twice (when pinballs are locating) the game wil start but the ball always goes inside the subway and stays there. No way to play. I also tried the supplied nvram file, exactly the same thing happens. Some more info: VPX 10.2.1 with all updates and workarounds to run Startrek LE which runs fine and also DOF enabled. Hope someone has a good idea, been trying now for some time ;-) Table looks great btw, always amazed of what you guys can do.

              Same issue here.

Thanks for the awesome effort, I’ve had an absolute blast with this table.  I never had the chance to play the real deal.

I am however having 2 issues.

                1) I seem to get the ball trapped behind the FBI trap door rather frequently.  The only way to get it out is to Tilt, since lost ball checker doesn’t seem to engage the trap door. (Don’t know if it’s supposed to)

2)I have the rom value set to 32 (max), yet the mechanical sounds are predominately louder than the rom.  Is there any way to adjust the mech sounds by individual table rather than globally in the audio preferences?  Even at max vol. this table’s volume is extremely lower than the rest of my VPX tables.

Thanks again for the hard work – outstanding job

Thanks for the awesome table! It’s been years since I’ve played the real deal. However, i’m getting a Claw Motor Error in the Test report, and I never see the claw move. Any idea on what I can do to resolve?

I have deleted the nvram a couple of times, and no change.

Thanks again! This table is incredible.

EDIT – Launched from Pinball X, and all works fine…./shrug

By chance did you get a Samsung SSD? If so, use Samsung Magician. If not, I still use the old and reliable Ghost for all my imaging….I’ve cloned many a SSD drives with it without issue.

And yes 200 gigs over usb 2 is gonna take a bit. (Avg speed probably around 35megs/second) Make a bootable usb stick w/Ghost or whatever imaging software you want to use, and also hook up both drives via SATA for faster transfer. (Assuming you have multiple SATA ports on your board.)

Any chance these tables are in a pack with associated media files for bulk download? Or do I need to just start searching and setting up one at a time? I know I probably shouldn’t hold my breath.
Some of these look pretty interesting.

Thanks for the update Fren. However, mission select is still auto-selecting the next mission after you complete the previous. For example, if I complete Destroy the Drill, Klingon Battle will immediately start.

When the game starts, I can select the first mission. Other than that, the game picks for me 90% of the time.

Thanks again for the great work!

Edit: After playing around, it looks like all the issues I have with this table boil down to the Start button. Auto Mission select, Multiple key-presses during high score entering, as well as launching all photon torpedoes at the same time. Is there anything in the script that can be edited to correct?
I also tried Shoopity’s fix on the last version of the table, but couldn’t get it to work.

Yeah, I tried to implement Shoopity’s fix, but might’ve done it incorrectly. Looking forward to the update, table runs great for me other than mission select.

Looks like the slowdown occurs after staying in attract mode for a while, however a quick bounce out and back in of the table seems to resolve. Maybe a memory leak or something.

Table is alot of fun – just wish I could get the mission select to work consistently.

Is there such thing as “rom lag”? It seems like on this table the rom is a few seconds behind on what’s happening on the table.

Example – Mission Select: Cycle through missions one at a time, and it takes about 2 seconds for the rom to register the next mission. Also when shooting the Vengeance, it takes a few seconds for the explosion to register.

Maybe it’s just me being oversensitive. Running vpx 2194, but I guess I could downgrade to 2162 and see if that makes a difference.
