I’m noticing when I nudge, it changes the brightness of the table. Any ideas?

You can disable the LUT change functionality in the table script.  Set it to 1.  By default it’s set to 0 and mapped to the MagnaSave buttons in VPX.  You might be using the same buttons for nudge too.

Pixeljunkie- I have the same issue. Did you find a fix? I have tried a few things but no luck yet.

I’ve not been able to fix this yet.  I also posted this in a thread on the Popper Facebook group.  This is what I tried and more details on an error I tracked down in the Windows Event Viewer…

I downloaded the reduced PupPack (720P), added a line to the script to attempt to gracefully exit the table, which was suggested on the Facebook group to include Controller.stop in the table1_exit routine… but it did not seem to make a difference.  I even tried to update Windows 10 latest updates to apply patches for .Net framework, hoping an update might have been needed. I last applied updates a month ago.

I did find a common error in my event viewer, but I’m not sure what else to check. Maybe this will help. The DLL issue seems to be with VLC (which I have not touched or upgraded per the Popper Wiki).

I’m really enjoying this table.  That being said, I’m running into a strange behavior with the PupPack.  I am running Popper 1.4.5 to launch this table, and running this table on a 3 screen cabinet (Option 2).  My third screen is a 16×9 LCD which I am using as a Full Screen DMD for this table.

When I exit the table, PinUpDisplay must crash (I don’t see any error messages), because if I launch a second table that uses a PupPack, none of the videos play (blank screen for backglass videos).  The only way to correct this is to completely exit Popper and restart it.  At that point, any PupPack works fine, and I can continue playing tables with PupPacks until I start GOTG again.  After I play GOTG, I lose the PupPack functionality on future tables that I launch (except GOTG, which seems to start up).

I’m not sure if there is something in the script that is unique to launching and closing the PupPack screens for this table.

If I do run VPX in Windows Borderless mode (vs. Exclusive Fullscreen), it works, but then performance suffers.  I’ve tried using the 1080P and 720P version of the PupPacks, tried running under different options (running DMD on Backglass, running it on the dedicated 3rd screen), but the behavior seems to be unique to this PupPack.

The table is beautiful and fantastic and I can only imagine how much work went into creating this.

Updated (SOLVED): I finally got my playfield stable @ 144Hz with G-sync on and the backglass stable to play puppack videos or regular backglass.  It took 3 steps, and until I did step 3, I only saw marginal improvements…

              1. Disabled Windows Defender completely in Group Policy (it was turned off in Group Policy, so no scans were running, but I did not explicitly disable Real-Time monitoring).  So I don’t know if something was still monitoring running processes in the background.
              2. Updated to Windows 10 2004 20H1 (I had previously disabled Windows Updates).  Microsoft addressed a bug somewhat related to this issue.  More info here:  https://www.notebookcheck.net/Windows-10-2004-20H1-finally-gets-multi-monitor-refresh-rates-right.454143.0.html
              3. Disabled Brute-force 4x SSAA in VPX

Honestly, turning off Brute-force 4x SSAA made the most dramatic impact on reducing stutter of videos on PupPacks and microstutter on the playfield that I was occasionally seeing.  I wish I had started with that first.  The other two steps may not be necessary… so if you have a similar problem… maybe start with Step 3 (if it applies) and then check 1, then 2.

              ——————————————————————————————————————————————————-

I kind of solved the problem.  I turned off G-sync on my Nvidia graphics card and turned on Vsync in the Nvidia control panel.

Then I set VPX to run in exclusive full screen, and set the refresh rate to be locked at 60Hz.

I’d love to run non PupPack tables at 144hz, and run these Pup Pack tables at 60Hz, but I haven’t found a way to switch resolutions via Popper at launch.  So for now, I just run everything at 60Hz, and for the most part everything is smooth.

I did fix this.  In my case, I was dealing with a new build, and my audio was being directed to another audio source in the background.  Even selecting the correct device in VPX didn’t fix it for me.  Ultimately, I had to go into device manager and under my list of audio sources, disable the HDMI ports appearing there (under audio, not the video signals), and the digital out from my MB sound card.  I wasn’t using these, though my LCD DMD and backglass monitors are plugged into the GPU, but are only used for video.  That left me with the one audio device that I was using, and seemed to force the rom audio to play via the L/R speakers afterwards.

I managed to lower the Leprechaun voice by editing the script.  Do a find and replace for 100,1 and replace it with calloutvol,1 .  You’ll see a bunch of places in the script where the volume level is hard coded to 100.  Replace it with the variable name and then it will use the value that you set the variable to in the top of the script.

Fantastic work!  I downloaded and installed the updated PinEvent and tables and followed the guide for my cabinet.  One thing I ran into was for RetroFlair and Jaws, which both have multiple zips for the Pup Packs… in addition to removing the final .zip extension, I had to remove the numeric prefix (e.g. 1591511203_) that vpinball adds to the file from each zip.  When I did this, I was able to then use 7Zip to unzip the archive files correctly.

                    Hope this helps.

Everything else worked for me and I can start playing these amazing tables!

Updated***This fixed the issue***.  I must of missed doing the upgrade after installing Pinup Player.

LOL!  I’m literally staring at the FAQ in another tab after I swear I read the entire thing and see this…

On all the PUPDMD displays, the words are followed by numbers, like this: “TerryRed|255” or “John Carpenter|78341″…

you aren’t properly updated to Pinup Player 1.44 or higher

I will confirm in the morning if that fixes it.  I’m pretty sure it will.  Like I said, your guide is fantastic and thorough!

Terry, hope you or someone can help me here with this one.  I’ve got everything working well, and followed your instructions and guides which are spot on and extremely thorough.  When I run the table (and I’m running Option 2, which is to display the DMD on a 16×9 screen), the text in the DMD has numbers after the normal text that is to be displayed.

I thought maybe I was using the wrong PUPDMD driver, but I ran it in debug mode and confirmed that it is set to 2.  I am not using custom table settings either.

I found the text and the numbers in the table script, so I at least know where it is coming from.  Is there some setting I am missing that would correct this?  I’m attaching a couple of photos to show what is displaying.

Thanks for this!  Probably saved me hours.  I have a MSI 570 MB and had the same issue with the Nahimic driver.  Uninstalled it, and everything started running ok.

Finally figured it out.  I had tried everything listed in the Wiki, installed Equalizer APO, copied the center channel to L/R, etc.  In a fit of desperation, I went into Device Manager in Win 10, and disabled every other audio output device that was not my Realtek Speakers / Headphones device.  I had 3 other devices listed, which included an HDMI out from my GPU, the optical (digital) port on my Realtek chipset on the MB, and I forget the third one, but I think it was another HDMI source.  Then I started up VPX and loaded the table.  Full table sounds, voices, and music!

My motherboard must have been pumping out the L/R channels over one of the digital sources, even though it wasn’t the default, and sending out the table sounds out to the surround speakers (exciters).

                            Thanks for the help!

I tried the suggestions in the guides to adjust the volume, but it did not make a difference.  After I originally posted an update, I narrowed it down to running 7.1 sound, as I have exciters installed for SSF.  I tried changing the audio to simple 2.0 Stereo as well in VPX, and changed my sound card to Stereo.  Now I am getting everything (including the missing voice / music ) out of the stereo speakers in my back box, and nothing out of the exciters.

Am I correct that it should work with 7.1 sound?  Previously I was getting SSF out of the 4 exciters in 7.1, but wasn’t getting music / voices out of the stereo speakers in the backbox.

Total noob at Virtual Pinball and I assume I am overlooking something simple here, but I can’t get TAF to play anything other than mechanical sounds (flippers, coin, etc.)  Music and voice for this table do not come through, but they work just fine for other tables.

I’ve tried deleting the NVRAM, the cfg file, verified I have the correct ROM, checked the volume of the table using End, 8,9 keys, etc. but haven’t figured it out.  I’m sure I’m missing something easy.

                                I’m playing directly through VPX.
