Anyone have a link to the needed Devil’s Dare ROM ? Haven’t been able to find it……

I PMed you, I don’t know if giving links to Gottlieb stuff is frowned upon or not.

Is this table playable with 10.6? For some reason, I get a loading problem, having to do with 10.7

I have 10.6 on my cab and it works fine. Do you or did you play Devils Dare before? This table uses that ROM and you might need to delete the nvram file for Devils Dare to get this going.

I like this table very much but the sounds need some work I think. I was getting slingshots only coming weakly through the back glass speakers but I managed to fix that from a post earlier in this thread.

However there are still missing sounds altogether like rubber and post hits and plastic rolling sounds. It sounds weird to hear the rolling on the table then to suddenly go silent on the plastic ramp.

I’m not skilled enough with the scripts to attempt any fixes, sorry.

My Attwood 4000 fan doesn’t work with this table. Fan works fine with all other tables though. I have the script set correctly to disable fan sound if a real one installed. If set for sound then wind sound does play in multiball, but when turned off the real fan doesn’t kick in. I updated my DOF config very recently.

The only b2s I can find for this is from 2013 and I can’t get any scores to show up at all. I change line 129 to “hidden = 0” and that still does nothing. Grille is visible in b2s options.  Now I appreciate that this is a support thread for the table and the author didn’t make the b2s.  Just wonder if anyone got it going. I don’t like the generic digital display of the VPinMame dmd.

Has anyone done a Tarcisio style wheel for this table? It’s the only table I’ve come across where I can’t find one. Great table by the way. Plays lovely. :good:

Take a look at my MEGA-account. I’ve made some wheels. ?

Hi there  :)  I had a look but I couldn’t see a Tarcisio for this table in your link. You’ve done that many though, must be hiding  :p

Sound issues resolved. There are two rom files needed for this table… startreb.zip and startrek.zip and I only had the first one. As soon as the second was added all the sounds fired up.  :)

Play s really nice. But I’m getting no ROM sounds. Only table mech sounds. I can press F6 in game and there;s an option for sound. It was set to few but I put it to max but no difference. No ROM sounds at all.

Make sure you have the samples for it in your Vpinmame/samples folder.

Thanks for your reply. I looked in my samples folder and there is a zip file entitled “s3520u3”. Should this remain zipped like roms? I don’t have any issues playing other Bally tables.

Yep, it can remain zipped. Also try hitting F1 in game and make sure play sound and play samples are checked.

Yesp, just looked and both sound and samples are checked. I’m playing this in cabinet mode on my cab. Is this version for FSS or VR only?

There’s no new direct.b2s file in 1.2a. Is it just a script change?

I don’t seem to be having the same experience as most people. I win easily on Legendary. The PC seems to give up a lot of the time. With the ball in the upper half of the table the flippers will turn from red to green and the PC lets the ball drain. I fired it up lat night and on Legendary it scored very low doing this on 2/3 balls.

EDIT:  I’ve just spotted what’s happening. The PC is tilting the table every time. I’m running a KL25Z accelerometer with the old style nudging turned off. So how is it tilting?

I’ve been looking for this too. I found the table from a link by the author himself elsewhere. As mentioned he doesn’t mind it shared just not publicly on websites.

But… I can’t find the pup pack anywhere. And this table needs the pup pack. Any chance someone can PM a link for me please?

EDIT:  Someone has very kindly shared the pup pack. Thanks very much again to that person  :)

Just installed PupPlayer tonight to play this on my cab. Have to say I’m really impressed! For a first effort this sets the bar for yourself really high. :good:

I did come across a couple of issues though with the latest 1.2 version. The first is almost a non issue, but nevertheless it’s there. When I got a match after a game I didn’t get an extra credit. Am I supposed to? Pressing the start button did nothing and I had to add another credit to play again. Like I say trivial that one.

The other issue I had was trying to balance the various sounds. I have a 5.1 surround system fitted with the balance towards the rear speakers to enhance mech sounds thru my exciters. I really need to add a couple more to have 7.1 which will come soon.

But no matter what I do with the volume settings in script some of the music and voices are really quiet (like Mr.Blue Sky) but the sound in some videos is mega loud (minus voices). One video in particular is super loud (the Ball saved clip). I can get everything almost balanced but that ball saved clip I can’t get low enough without other stuff going too quiet. Dunno if it’s how I’ve got the 5.1 arranged.

Is there a way to turn the music off or have it turned so low I can’t hear it? I’d just like that option as for me…. the music is annoying. (Sorry!)   I’ve tried turning the volume value in the script down. I’ve tried turning the music volume down in VPX table options. Nothing works. But it’s strange as I can alter the mechanical volume in the script.

I’m not using PupPlayer. I’ve got it running with just b2s backglass and UltraDMD only and the table plays lovely. Oh… side issue… why does the UltraDMD only appear when a coin is entered? Dunno if no PUP is causing these issues.

I’m new to VPX but this is one of my faves already. One minor detail I noticed in the script… turning the skillshot wall off (as in the real machine) does nothing for me. The wall is always there no matter I set to 0 or 1.

I just finished my mini cab and this is a favourite table of mine. A fantastic recreation!

I did have some performance issues and I’ve smoothed them out by adding a static back glass and lowering some table specific settings in VPX. But I still have a random annoying delay when shooting from the assist section close to goal. Sometimes it takes as much as 5 seconds or so to respond to my flipper when shooting. Other times it’s pretty quick at around half to one second but it;s never “instant” like a flipper press. I don’t have any flipper lag in normal play. Is there a fix for this please?

In fact… is it an instant response on the real table?
