I still check the repo for new commits. But more of the recent releases have been good about enabling fastflips, SSF, etc. Less need for a separate script to update features.

Somebody owns the IP. As has been the case since VP first came out twenty years ago. Community does what it does until Planetary Pinball decides to say enough is enough. Worst that will happen is a takedown notice/C&D. It is what it is. Since not much has happened (a few incidences here and there) in twenty years then maybe nothing will happen.

Also, the work is officially licensed from Williams. Got to protect that license. Everybody’s got to get paid!
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere saying if the work is shared online Williams can revoke his license even if he has nothing to do with the work being shared. I would never want to jeopordize someone else’s income, especially for something so frivolous. It’s amazing everything in this community is already free of charge and the artist definitely can not be blamed for protecting his livelihood.
Yeah, that’s what I mean. Even if the artist didn’t personally mind having the work out there, he may be obligated to protect the work in order to meet the terms of the license.
As the quality of resources produced by the community has improved so much lately with accurate images/3D models and users have the capability to print replacement decals and parts at home, that’s got to threaten some licenses. Guess we’ll see if the hammer finally comes down.

Ok, but if you were attempting to use custom display images rather than default then you might need the alternate version of the Designer. Granted, the project I used it for was just for two screen support:
https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/star-trek-bally-mirror-universe-db2s/#changelog
It’s been a few years. As far as I remember, in the official version of Designer if you were to import custom digits you are allowed to import digits 0 to 9 but there is no remaining slot for a blank/unlit digit. The alternate version corrects for that.
The built-in LED in the Designer is fine, but this came to mind again because I think that B2S authors can do something that looks better, like freezy’s alphanumeric renderer. The problem with dmdext is that users can’t scale to fit precisely into the score display space within B2S projects. Especially, when those backglasses themselves are scaled to fit a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor on user’s cabinets. What an author can do is capture images from the alphanumeric renderer and import into B2S Designer. Depending on project needs, the author may need that blank in addition to digits 0 to 9. This is most suitable for the early solid state tables that basically just displayed numbers, prior to the mid-80s.

No issues with defining an empty LED image for a blank in regular V1.2 Designer?

stwr_104.zip is the parent set. Get that one at VPU and you should be set. If not, let me know and I’ll post the correct set. Clone sets tend to have only what ROMs are different from the parent set. But if you are not using a clone then you should not need to download every Star Wars set.

Fun table. Thanks so much. I wish someone could donate a good scan of the apron cards.
Thanks again for your hard work,
Lane
the majority of cards can be found here,
http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/
I went trough them all and have a missing VPX missing list
Yep, Inkochnito’s site (pinballrebel link) has the original manufacturer PDF. That’s as good as you can get.

Was looking for this again and found it. AFAIK this is the latest version of B2S Designer and it is not in the usual download locations. Just a bugfix that allows import of an empty LED image. But it is an update from V1.2.

My CPU is just on the wrong side of minimum requirements for VR. No upgrade path for my motherboard. Too old. For me, that means new CPU, new motherboard, new CPU cooler, probably new memory modules. GPU might carryover if I buy the right bus. All that before even looking at headsets, etc. Yeah, it’s going to be a long time before I’ll be trying VR out.

I would not point the finger at VPF for SAMbuild at this point. After all, VPF supports SAM tables now. It’s more that VPinMAMEdev themselves don’t want to deal with the hassle. They have a happy home. SAMbuild has a happy home. Users know where to find what they need. No problem.
As for Doctor Who, there was a new dump of the L-2 sound rom where I think the set was using the L-1 sound rom before. It’s a righteous update by definition. But, don’t ask me what is specifically different about the soundtrack. For users with 3.3beta, they just need to redownload the set from VPU and the table will play with correct sound.
Players usually just need the mother set which tends to be the latest production version of a table’s game code. That’s usually what authors’ tables support. Talking classic tables, those mother sets are years and years old and don’t change. But it can happen on occasion believe it or not that a new dump or new information requires a correction to be made. It happens. Download the updated set and move on with your life.

If you are using 3.3beta then this:

In other words, this is the same thing four other people have suggested doing on this page alone.
Update your ROM set!

With PinballX it is possible to display German characters in a USA local environment by use of Unicode character codes in the xml database.
Ex.
<description>Motörhead</description>
It doesn’t look like I had to change the file name for PinballX to match with the same name in the gamename tag. I still have the umlaut in the file name.
I don’t currently have any front-end installed so I don’t know if the same rules apply with Popper.

Maybe popper can’t match on file names/table names with umlauts.

Yep, the table seems to be based on V1.0. The script does not have the flipper lag fix. UncleWilly never updated the table here at VPinball. His latest version is at VPForums:

In the description or installation upload tab, link to suggested tracks on youtube and what to name them to work with the table script.
Then users proceed from there. Can use a downloader or whatever to rip the track, but then it is on users to download the track if they want it.
Pretty simple for most music if it is not too obscure.
