Hi,
Just updating my VP9 tables to VPX and downloaded this one. I’ve tweaked the POV as I normally do to suit my monitor (desktop mode) and I imported pbecker’s backdrop as it was much more visible and re-arranged the primitives and decals to the appropriate positions.
However, after within about 10 seconds of opening the table to play, I get an error message “Line 2264 Overflow: Playsound”. The table then closes to the editor. I also noticed that there are no balls in the tray.
Any ideas? Using the latest VP10.6 in Windows 10 64 bit.
Cheers,
Nursie

I found the problem with the center ramp on my own. I just moved the primitive up so it’s edge was no longer in the ramp. Doesn’t seem to affect the game at all in DT mode.

It’s been so long since I posted this problem and so much water has flowed under the bridge. First up, thank you to all who responded, especially Terry Red. As an update, I just want to tell Terry that everything is now well. I have figured out many “ins and outs” of PUP and have it running nicely. It helps to stop being that guy who never feels he ask for directions, and invest in the time to watch Terry Red’s video’s.
My only problem now is lack of processing power, especially from the GPU. but that’s something only I can solve. Fortunately a solution is soon to be forthcoming, despite, or maybe because of the COVID situation, but that’s another story. So many good MP4’s in the PUP packs today. It’s a shame we haven’t evolved with two sets of eyes. lol.

Really nice table, seeing as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of imagery to work from. It has a real old timey, pre 70’s look to the artwork. It will be interesting to see why Williams never put this table into production.
Gravity is a bit light but still very playable as is. Thanks, aen, for the contribution. Very much appreciated.

Great Table. Nice addition of the extra bumpers to form the ring, gives the table a real element of speed like the flurry of punches seen in many of the Rocky fight scenes. You need to turn the table sounds off viaVpinmame (F1) and just use the samples otherwise the rom gives off a terrible hum. At least, mine does. Not sure why that happens.

Thanks for the table, Tom.
Nice to see some more classics coming up from VP9, even though my poor PC is almost haemorrhaging despite setting many things in the tables to minumum values (and static rendering many primitives). But it’s worth it. And thanks to the other members for working through these little problems that pop up. It’s appreciated by the rest of us.

Thanks for the reply Hawkeye,
I’m running ss_15, but the PuP pack doesn’t want to play. However, I found a standalone script on the Nailbuster site and that seems to work. I’m getting the backglass, but the DMD stays hidden. That will do me for now.
Running PUP on a desktop is a bit of a waste and distracting to the gameplay. I think I’ll wait until I build a cab before I get serious about PUP. Still, I don’t mind dabbling on the desktop. as it never hurts to increase the learning curve. Thanks for your input.

Hi Guys. I’m a bit noobish when it comes to PUP. I’ve downloaded the PUP-pack, but what table do i run it with? I have nFozzy’s latest v1.43 table, but it’s not scripted to run PUP. Is there a standalone script I can insert into the current script? All a tad confusing. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi randr,
I did change z in POV, but reset all POV values to original (z = -220) but I’m still getting Pinball Missing when pressing start. BTW, I’m in DT mode, running 10.6 final.
I made the apron invisible to see what was happening as I was getting a loading sound when pressing start, and two ball are appearing at the ball release kicker, but nothing is happening.

Like some others, I have a Pinball Missing issue. I deleted the nvram but to no avail. Interestingly my VP9 version works well.
I’m sure the answer is under my nose, but I can’t seem to solve it. Any ideas?

Was there ever a rulesheet available for this table?

The previous VPX release of this table that I have was release in July 2018 by Sinbad, V1.0.0., which is the table tou have modelled this from. Usually I archive my downloads but I could not locate the table in my archives. It does refer to vpforums in the table info, but the table no longer exists there.

Mate,
Half of the views have elicited a download, so you must be doing something right. I can’t wait to get this table up and running.

I had a cat named Misfit. Couldn’t pass up the table in her honour.

September 21, 2019 at 10:23 am in reply to: Editing Table Views, View Property Database/Library/Repository #145739Guys, this info is gold for me. I’m planning on getting a cab in the near future. Since I started VP, I’ve always played in Desktop mode, often resetting VP8 & 9 FS tables to play DT. So this info is going to come in really handy for the migration to the cab. I never even thought of exporting a POV. It was there all the time. Huh! Must be enjoying myself too much playing all the great tables.
Cheers,
Nursie.

I only just realised that my only version of Gulfstream was for FP, which I’m phasing out for various reasons. This is a great peice of work. I’m having a slight stuttering as the ball passes through the top and side lanes. Probably due my my older PC system, so I should be able to work it out. Apart from that, it’s great table. Unusual in the fact that it featured being convertable from replay to add a ball.

Wow! Just downloaded it and ran it as is on my desktop. Gotta make a device that physically rotates the 26″ TV/ Monitor I have. Still, when I get my cab, this is one of the first ones going in. Thanks Arco and get well soon.

I just picked up a small error in the script. Under RollerDisco_Init, change the line
.SplashInfoLine=”Close Encounters (Gottlieb 1978)” to .SplashInfoLine=”Roller Disco (Gottlieb 1980)”.
Reduces confusion.

Hey randr,
Thank you for the work in getting this ported to VP(X). I have the FP version and after three years, I still find this table’s rules difficult to understand, so cudos on the video. I’ll start playing this in earnest in a few days time and I will try to articulate problems that I find and see if I can come up with any fixes. However my skills are limited, so I’ll just do my best.
Maintain the rage!

Finally at last, someone has stepped up to the plate on this one! I have a VP8 version (not Destruk’s) and it was well,,, let’s just say it needed more work. I was so frustrated ’cause I could see the potential of a head to head, even it it didn’t play the CPU. I was going to fiddle around with it to try and get some reasonable performance out of it, but it would have been a VP9 at best, such is the limit of my skills.
Now I can die happy. Uh, I better download and play it first, but.
OK thanks again Dark. You’ve restored my faith in humanity.
Cheers,
Nursie
