I figured out why the bumper sounds weren’t working. In the script, the sounds are labelled “fx_bumper_1” “fx_bumper_2” “fx_bumper_3” in lines 322-324. Simply remove the last underscore for each of those so they match the actual name of the respective sound files (i.e. “fx_bumper1, fx_bumper2, fx_bumper3), and it should work fine!

Thanks for this! Nice job. It’s a fun one. Seems to play quite fast, but I’ve never played a real LW3 table.

One thing I noticed is that the wire-form seems to missing the ball-rolling sound on it, after the first loop. Also, sometimes the ball makes a slight odd “twitch” movement when catching the ball with the right flipper.

Really appreciate all the work that goes into these tables!!!

        *** SOLVED *** (Mostly)

I found that a couple of sound files (fx_rampL, fx_railShort) are referenced in the script (lines 344, 349, 354) but are missing from the table. I was able to find fx_rampL (Last Action Hero) which I’ve attached here. Importing the missing sound file seems to take care of things, for the most part. I haven’t been able to find fx_railShort so let me know if you find it.

        Hope this is helpful!

          WOW! This is amazing!

Now I’ve just gotta find a creative way that would allow me to play head to head with a real person on my cabinet, in a way that looks good and feels comfortable.

Thanks for the effort and innovation on this one!

What an intriguing table! What a great theme!

The movie is hilarious and it’s awesome that anyone thought to make this murder-mystery into a table. And of course the video clips are so funny, with all those little subtext jokes that went over my head when I watched the movie as a kid. Plus the artistic style is fitting for the theme.

Great job Fusionwerks! Hope to see more work from you sometime.

Fantastic table! It puts me right back into that amazing 80’s vibe that was so great about this show. The nostalgia, the mystery, the adventure, the tension. Good clarity on what the objectives, on screen. And one of the best parts… unlike some PUP videos, I love how these are very well integrated with the table and don’t distract from the gameplay, but rather the ball is held allowing you to watch and enjoy the video. You don’t have to worry about watching and playing at the same time.

When a table makes people FEEL something, not just playing another table, then you’ve made it really special. Amazing work. Thank you!

An even more spectacular looking and sounding table! Thanks VPW team.

One small suggestion: It kinda looks odd having two right-hands for both of those yellow inner ramps. What if you flipped Spidey’s hand, for the left-ramp to make it a left-hand instead?

Keep up the amazing work on making great tables even better!

Absolutely gorgeous table and a fantastic job of putting it together. So sharp and realistic looking. I wish all EMs were given this treatment and attention to detail. What a feast for the eyes! Fantastic work!

Another vote for Space Mission! I had the opportunity to play it with my 6-year old at a pinball expo a couple years back and had a lot of fun. It stuck in my mind ever since and was also part of the reason why I embarked on this hobby — to explore other classic EMs. Would love to see a polished version from someone who can bring it to life!

Finally got it to work! For whatever reason, I got the vikingb file from another site and it worked for me. It was 8kb in size, where the other ones were only 1kb, so maybe it wasn’t downloading properly for me or I was doing something wrong. Anyway I’ll go with it, and I’ve attached the file here in case anyone runs into the same issue.

Now time to get my heart broken by this table. lol

Thanks for the reply Thalamus. I tried deleting the vikingb registry, re-downloading the vikingb.nv, vpx and b2s files. I didn’t know what “crc check” is, so I doubt I’ve touched that at all. Anyway, still same situation unfortunately. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong somewhere. I’m not too fussed over it — it bugs me more that I can figure out the problem. Hate to miss out on a bord table though! Thanks again!

Sorry for this total nuub question: I can’t start a ball on the table. I hear coins dropping and I can pull the plunger, just no ball or flipper response. vikingb is in my ROMS folder. Bumpers and slingshots are responding to test balls. What am I doing wrong? (Playing on a single screen PC for now). Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Can’t wait to see this one in action!

@iwantchipz  So any updates yet? How are things running with your set up? I’m curious to know what kinds of frame rates you’re getting with VPX with the 1440, and how things are looking and feeling overall.

I dont even have VPX or a computer that can run it yet, but seeing this type of work and enthusiasm to contribute to the community really makes me want to get something started soon! Very excited to get up and running, and have these kinds of exciting visuals up on a screen. Just have to cobble together some funds. Thanks for the dedication and detailed work!

I’m glad there’s a thread on this topic because I was also finding a lack of info on 1440p 144hz for VPX. I wanted to know if it would be a viable solution for getting a better resolution on a larger (27 to 32″) screen, while having super smooth framerate — and then what sort of CPU and GPU would support it?

Is 1440p 144Hz worth the difference in cost? Or just go with 4k at 60Hz at a larger screen size?
