Thanks, disabling playfield reflection indeed helped with smoothing out the gameplay. It is just weird that this is necessary, considering that my hardware is stronger in every way than what the table author’s signature says…

Thank you for updating this fun table.
However, this version causes some pretty significant ball stutter for for me, whereas version 2.1 runs perfectly smooth… pity because I’d really like to get this one with all the updates running properly on my rig. I wonder what causes the problem with the updated table and how to fix it.
Am I the only one with this issue?

This is an unbelievably realistic recreation. It looks, plays and sounds so much like a real EM, it’s downright scary. I didn’t believe it is possible to emulate it to this level. Honestly, if someone never played a table of this era, they don’t need to look any further than this. Hands down the best EM recreation so far, bar none.
Thanks so much to all involved people for this beauty. I love it.
(yes, I’m old and used to play quite a lot of similar machines back in the day)

Taking a photo of the real machine and claiming it as your POV screen shot is called cheating

Thank you for the update, this with game difficulty at 75 is much better :)
I set the night->day cycle to the second mark from all the way to the left, applied my POV, and this is the one I’m playing now.

at some point I was considering releasing my “physics” mod of this table, I must have played well over 100 games on it and I believe my GC is around 600M now. I might one day release it. Currently it is just a personal wip.
I’d love to see your tweaked version released.

Thanks for the mod, it looks really good.
However, I agree that this version is too easy. I killed Dracula on my first try and that is rather difficult on the real table or ICPjuggla/Dozer’s version. I switched back to that because this becomes a little boring after a while. Not that the other would be perfect, there is something weird about that one, especially its flipper handling and how the ball behaves when hit with the tips of the flippers, but still more challenging to master.
Attached is my POV file (works with both versions).

had to change line 100 to False to get the DMD to display in my 2 screen cabinet.
Thanks for this… I was wondering why the DMD doesn’t show up, and this fixed it.
Wasn’t really intuitive why would I have to set this line to “False” though…Dim UseVPMDMD:UseVPMDMD = False
You’d think this is what makes the DMD to disappear… apparently not.

My cabinet runs Windows 7 and all antivirus is disabled. Still, I had to turn off reflections on the playfield even with the latest update. Runs well after that.

Hi,
It is not that setting. The issue is that the framerate drops below the vsync value (60 FPS).
All other tables run just fine with a much higher FPS when I disable vsync and stay steady at 60 FPS when I enable vsync.
Dungeons and dragons however drops to stuttering FPS rates. Seeing as there is not much going on while playing and I use a 1050ti, this shoud not occur. I run my playfield at 1920×1080.
That is why I was asking if anyone else has fps drops in this table.
EDIT: Seems that turning reflect playfield graphics to 0 (zero) fixed it for this table.
Thanks for this hint, unchecking the ‘Reflect Elements on Playfield’ box fixed the same problem for me too. Losing a little eye candy is less important than smoother gameplay, so this is an acceptable tradeoff.
I wonder what makes this table suffer from this setting, because as far as I can remember, it is the only one for me as well with this problem. Other tables play smooth with it enabled.
I changed the POV a little… attached the file if someone wants to try it.

January 7, 2020 at 12:38 am in reply to: Lesser known features of VPinMAME – alternate soundtrack remixes #157300Thanks… is there some documentation about how sound mode 1 works? It would be great not having to run a separate program for alternate sounds, if at all possible :)

January 6, 2020 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Lesser known features of VPinMAME – alternate soundtrack remixes #157297I must be missing something because sound mode 1 doesn’t work for me on any table. Tried Elvis, TZ, TAF…
I downloaded the Pinsound package for a table, put it into the altsound/romname folder of vpinmame in the same structure as it was in the pinsound archive, but with sound mode 1 I can only hear the mechanical sounds, no music. My guess would be that the pinsound package will not work with sound mode 1 – is that correct?
If yes, then how can I get sound mode 1 to work, what sounds should I use?
Thanks.

Thanks @Wildman for fixing the truncated score window and the great looking backglass update!
And of course thanks to Siggi and other involved authors for the table

Great table, thanks for the update. However, the pop bumpers don’t work for me… is this normal?
Deleting the NVRAM fixed the pop bumpers… after that, I also got the “Pinball missing” problem, but a few resets and restarting VP seems to have fixed that as well.

Thanks for the VPX version :)
A while ago I hex-edited the ravena ROM to say RAMBO instead of RAVEN at game start. I would upload it but because of the recent hoopla around the Gottlieb ROMs I’m not sure if that’s a good idea… at any rate, anyone with a hex editor can do the same thing.
I feel that the flipper physics in this version could use some tweaking…

This is a fun table and you made clever changes to the original. Good track selection too. Manowar is a little cheesy but they still have some really good tunes, and the theme lends itself very well for a table like this. Great job!
You may want to update the table info since it still has all text from Alien Poker.
I did that on my local copy already

It must be some setting on those powerful rigs, because the table plays perfectly on my much weaker setup. My system cannot hold a candle to an i7 + GTX 1080 combo.

As it was said by many, this table is without doubt one of the best ones I have ever seen in VP. Perhaps even the best
Awesome job. Thanks so much.
Interestingly, it is also the rendition on which I was able to make the circus in my third game, which never happened with earlier versions… let alone the real machine. So if anything, it is perhaps a little too easy :) – and I’m not really a too good pinball player.
