November 16, 2018 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Masters of the Universe (VPX) – PuP-Pack – Royal Boob Edition #104134
I’ve been having the exact same issue with this PuP-Pack..
Every once in a while I can get it to work by starting the game closing the game restart the game without closing the editor and it helps to have a first boot..
Not sure what I am doing wrong with this one. Have the newest version of the table. Using the Text on BG version. I don’t get the Castle overlay and also no videos work. Every other Pup-Pack I have works fine, Tron, Batman, F14, Stranger Things, etc. I do see the background sky layer and also He-Man and the sword animation is moving. Other than that no video or Castle overlay.
Something else worth mentioning is PinUpDisplay goes not responding after / while playing the table and then I have to manually kill it.
Made sure I was using the new table, looked in the script and it has mentions of the PuP-Pack. Plus I downloaded it like 3 times just to make sure :).
Thanks,
Nick
Add me to this.. exact same issue.

Thanks for the update.. My personal notes: I found 1.0 more like the real table.. 1.1 seemed a bit more bouncy??

looks good. Thank you!!!
I noticed it opened up in a weird location on my cab. Anyone have a nice .pov file (1080p screen). ?

Hmm.. Ive been taking a small break the past 2 weeks.. partly because I caught a cold and was resting.. but interesting that those videos were to go. I used that channel to keep up on updates across the Various sites of Virtual Pinball.

October 4, 2018 at 8:45 pm in reply to: How to have a table be able to use PuP and not use it. #100366Is there a prefered way to use and not use PuP for a table? Ive seen several suggestions . Trying to do the the one that takes the least amount of maintenance to get working.

September 13, 2018 at 10:23 pm in reply to: Lesser known features of VPinMAME – alternate soundtrack remixes #98120Sorry to bring up an older thread.
Before I try another mod to my tables, is there a reason to start and shut down Pinsound Studio after each table, instead of leaving it running in the background? I’m assuming yes judging by CarnyPriest and TerryRed’s comments, but want to make sure.
Hi Terry, sorry to bring up an old thread again, but I was wondering how do you do this ? I havent installed pinsound yet but looking into it.
thanks

Just putting this thread back on track.. , Is there a chance we can have native .avi/video support in PinUP Popper for real DMDs. It should be possible as PBXis capable of this, meanwhile PuP only has 10fps GIF support.
thank you
if you’re PC is capable you can use 20 fps gifs. Jens use to use pin2dmd and his animated gifs were pretty good. I don’t see this changing soon… real-dmd drivers are just not that ‘stable’ for full avi playing.
I chatted to Jens about this last week. Here is a comparison of GIFs I converted using the ffmpeg scripts – https://uploadfiles.io/92wxq You will see that the resulting GIF files are dithered. There are artifacts in the letters ACDC and These show up on the DMD and look bad. I was looking at extracting out a palette to use in the ffmpeg and trying to make a cleaner conversion from .avi /.mp4 to .gif . I did some poking around and I think I have a BETTER script for converting video files to GIF. I am currently doing some tests but so far the results have been better… https://ufile.io/92wxq
So, not as straight forward, and kind of a pain, but I guess there is a workaround . Maybe because a lot of people use LCD screens now so this hasn’t come up with others

How did you get your videos to play in pinballx on a REAL DMD?
The only thing it will play for me is the default – no DMD video
I have DMDExt (https://github.com/freezy/dmd-extensions) set up. I believe PinballX uses that .

I would like to see a “single” page that has Roms and ONLY ROMS listed in alphabetical order. And when I select one, I get a new window opened to open/save. No additional pages to open up with blah blah blah etc.
Personally, I would love the same thing especially the colour ROMs. I’m not sure why they cannot be hosted somewhere? is it because they are modified versions of the original?. Things are moving so fast I find it hard to keep up. I think one of the best things I did was use Randr’s “All in one ” installer when I setup my software. Even though I have only used VPX, the point was it was easy to get something pretty much self contained. Right now, I get a table, then try and find the B2S , then look for the rom, and hope it all works.

Hmm art work based on the original (1977) film. I think these days people call it “A New Hope”. Doesn’t look like a tie into the whole series.

I would gladly install a shaker motor if someone could show me a simple motor that runs on 12V. Simple on/off function (just dial the set speed). Nothing more than that. I finally will be moving to a place that has alot of real pinball I can play…and yes I noticed the shaker when it kicked in! Not as crazy as my 12 transducers in my simpit, but still cool!
@TerryRed – Dang! I just bought a shaker motor on ebay a few weeks back. It was only $US8 but $15 to ship from the US. Its the same motor as used by williams in their WPC shakers (ie. Whitewater). Unfortunately the guy who had them is now sold out. (He had a ton of them brand new). I just build my shaker mount last night and will be looking to find a cover to use as protection as well (Dollar store plastic container upside down perhaps?)Anyway, I have’t updated my build thread in VPF as I have been busy building and wiring. I haven’t been on the forums much. I should be up and running as soon as I get the solenoids installed!. I am drooling at anticipation watching all these updates in recent weeks!
